How else is drinking cocoa this fine day? What’s your recipe? What chocolate or cocoa powders do you like to use? All cocoa drinkers welcome, even Swiss Miss enjoyers.

>1.5 tbs Sugar
>1.5 tbs cocoa
>some quantity vanilla (1/4 tsp maybe?)
>fill 3/4 with boiling water (add a little bit as first to turn cocoa into a paste)
>top with milk

Heaven in a cup.

It's too hot here (90s) for hot chocolate, but I like to make some around Christmas and then refill the half n half containers with the chocolate mixed drink.

-1 tbs cocoa
-2 tbs suger
-A couple squirts of caramel sauce (optional)
-Boil 1.5 cups of milk, put it in my french press (Use it for coffee every day and never cleaned it, gives the hot cocoa a deeper flavor, wish I was joking)
-Press it up and down like 30 or 40 times to froth
-Pour a bit to turn it into a paste
-Spoon a bit of the really thick froth and make a smiley face (Not optional)
-Drink with a peppermint straw (optional)

For hot chocolate, all you need is:

Milk

Chocolate

That's all.

Melt the chocolate in the milk and simmer

Semi sweet, but any will work. Depends on what you like. Could even use white chocolate or mix peanut butter in for another dimension.

Theoretically, could you add alcohol to cocoa? Something like rum or whisky that generally pairs well with chocolate.

That’s probably close to the Bensdorp cocoa I used. I general, Dutch-process cocoa incorporates better into liquid. Not sure why, could be the different acidity level.

>>21432643
Crap I need to try adding a pinch of salt.

>>21432645
The dark cocoa in >>21432448 doesn’t even have milk, it’s not important. If I wants a more milky experience, I’d break out the cream and make a European-style cocoa. Also we usually use powdered milk, 1% is ~fancy~ for us.

>>21432686
I mean chocolate liqueur is a thing. I’m not sure how well rum would work to be honest. If I were to try to booze up my cocoa, I’d try something like Irish cream (hopefully wouldn’t curdle).

Happy Saturday friends.

Does anyone else get incredibly sleepy after having cocoa/chocolate? As far as I can tell it’s not because of the sugar, it’s specifically cocoa that knocks me flat.

It’s nice for this because it’s not alcohol-based, mellower in drinks. I originally got it for making meringues. There’s also paste form of vanilla that I’d like to try someday.

It’s the one that came with my keyboard (Razer), but the material started disintegrating so we rewrapped the padding in fabric.

>Does anyone else get incredibly sleepy after having cocoa/chocolate?
If I have dark chocolate with no sugar it makes me want to kill myself really bad. It makes me so miserable it is unreal, which is odd, because according to many people it's supposed to make you happy, euphoric, etc.

>Sleepy from sugar
That's me, which is why I try to avoid added sugar, and I am not diabetic or a fat ass, etc.

I have so many problems with food; it's depressing. My gut is always messed up and my intestines have always had problems with properly digesting stuff since I was a kid. It's supposedly something that happens from being born really early according to doctors, but who knows if that's fake bullshit from them.

Also, with dark chocolate in any amount (serving size or less) besides what I previously wrote I get really bad headaches. I can have normal caffeine in any other form and that never happens, plus I drink enough water, so I just avoid it.

This is my chocolate syrup recipe
Chocolate Syrup
Mix 2 cups sugar, 1 cup cocoa in a large pot
Add 3-4 capfuls of liquid vanilla flavoring
About 1/4 a tsp of salt
Mix it together very good, ~30 seconds of whisking or so
Put on stovetop and put heat on medium
Pour in milk (Not sure how much. Like 1/4 a cup?)
Keep stirring, stir it into a paste. If its too thick, a bit more milk. Too runny, less milk.
Do this as it heats up, stirring constantly, ~10 minutes or so. It'll start to pop and boil a bit as you stir it.
Add in coconut oil (~2 tbsp? Unsure)
Melt it all together good. Make sure to taste test; you don't want any sugar granules.
When it smooth and thick, pour it into a glass mason jar
Anything left over, add milk to taste and turn it into hot cocoa using whatever is inside the put on the sides still
Voila

This morning we cancer-cocoa, because I still have some I need to use up and I’m very tired and can’t otherwise be bothered.

It does have a weird caramel-y taste that goes nicely with my shitty coffee though.
