The cheapest steak anyone can have is one from another patron's plate after they left the establishment. I had this opportunity at a local place and took it along with some fries. It tasted pretty good, but had obviously gotten kinda cold. My friends gave me some shit but we proceeded to share the fries as we waited for our food

the cheapest steak at texas roadhouse (6 oz sirloin) is still delicous if you get it MR and you can do WAY WAY worse. texas roadhouse has full time meat cutters in house, the beef is always fresh. sure theres tons of amerilards who will get it well done and drown it in A1 like OP but thats not the restaurants fault. go try the steak at applebees, chilis, ihop, dennys or waffle house and compare it to the roadhouse steak, its a world of difference

havent actually tried longhorn. there was just no point since I had an employee discount at roadhouse and ate it 3/4 times a week as it is. but we had employees from longhorn whod come eat at our roadhouse so Id assume we were better. and the job (waiter) mostly sucked because they have a corporate policy that you can ONLY have 3 table sections (way too small, most places its like 5-8 tables which is much busier/more fun/more profitable) and more importantly the relatively low prices/popularity attracted a lot of low life scum who tipped very little/nothing at all even if you gave them perfect service, which i always did. and other gay corporate things like you HAVE to use our specific marketing slogans at your table and we will send in secret shoppers who will sit in your section and audit you to make sure youre doing everything like a perfect corpo-drone (they really do do this, frequently).

the two big upsides were the food and the never ending supply of fresh young waitresses to work with (with the 3 table sections theyd have to compensate by having a ton of servers on the floor)

now I work in an upscale place where I make easily 2-3x as much per night and only have to deal with a handful of tables instead of 12-20 shitlord tables. life isnt good, but its better.

I worked through covid without a single extra day off and my perspective is of someone whose life did not change at all except for the prices of food and utilities. Shit is fucked. I make more money than average and I feel like I can't buy what I want to eat anymore. I cannot even fathom what the lowest paid of society are dealing with right now. I used to be able to buy fucking anything and not give a shit and I'd still have tons of extra money. Now if I don't price out every single thing at a grocery store I'm leaving with a 400 dollar receipt for 2 weeks worth of groceries.

Not steak but I was at a second hand grocery store in early January and they had a massive sale on turkey legs im assuming leftovers from Thanksgiving so I bought a half dozen thinking I could roast them Ren Faire-style and there was some weird cartilage sinewy stuff all up and down the legs that made them terrible to eat. That was probably the worst meat Ive ever had.

This is probably the cheapest steak I've eaten and it is good. It's like $14 for a steak, two sides and bread. People act like you need to get the $40 ribeye but the sirloin fills me up just fine with a loaded baked potato, salad and bread and cinnamon butter. Even better if you eat in the restaurant and get unlimited bread and can down it with some cold beer in the frosted mugs.

>the cheapest steak at texas roadhouse (6 oz sirloin) is still delicous
Of course it's just fine. I occasionally get the smallest sirloin steak at Cheddars, loaded potato and vegetable, with salad, and it's a satisfying meal with correct portions. If I asked for A1, I'd probably be ignored until the point where I would give up needing it, likely.

As far as cheap steak, I'd totally throw out my favorite is a bistec palomilla at any cuban restaurant, and it'll cover your entire plate, be a thin griddled pounded sirloin steak, tender, and covered in lime mojo marinated grilled onions with cilantro. No sauce needed, and in fact, the steak and onions will be so juicy, you can cover it in a mountain of fries (though I prefer sweet plantains).
