>>21437842 (OP) If you're hating the metallic taste or spongey texture its because you bought cheap ones pickled in metal vats. Give em another try OP, either get a nice jar of them, or on pizza to help tone down the briney punch of them.

>>21437842 (OP) If I have them from a can, I want the collossal large ones that are whole. If from a jar, they shoould be oil-cured or kalamta brined. I like oil-cured for pizza, and they might be $4/jar....not expensive. Kalamata are great for salads, and they are often on BOGO sales.
>>21437854 While I'm confident Greece sells cheap shitty olives, I wasn't alleging "you just need a good one", only addressing common complaints of black olives and the likely cause for those complaints.
Its okay OP, just because you don't like the taste, texture, smell, or cost of certain foods is fine.

>>21437842 (OP) I have never had olives like that that have been good. Over salted with no flavour. There is a huge difference between the worst and half-descent olives. We buy ours from the turkish grocers. We prefer just brined olives with pit. They all have different flavours. Some of the best green ones actually have a slight fruitiness. We like to crush those and mix with garlic, lemon and coriander. Keep trying different stores, if you can, so you can find some good ones.
