I live in Ireland and whenever I travel I obviously try the local food and drink, but I also have to find an Irish pub and try the Guinness. In Cologne at the moment and the pint isn't too bad.

I have a scoring system out of 10:
Taste of the pint: +1 to +5
Owned by Irish: +1
Irish bar staff: +1
Authentic paraphernalia: +1
Good craic: +2

Why though?
Why can't you just be entirely not in Ireland, anymore?
Is it fear?

People are allowed to like things, why does it bother you so much? Are you that joyless of an adult?

it's interesting to see how competent but different (even ignorant) people interoperate something you're deeply familiar with

What's your definition of this? Like a guy from Connacht that moves out and starts a bar in wherever? And do you have opinions on the non-guiness drinks like Beamish?

I unironically went to the McDonald's in Hong Kong three times just to have their chicken sandwich.

Honestly, it's because I like to see how well people can imitate Irish culture. Makes me feel good knowing basically every country has an irish pub and enjoys our drinking culture.

I say any Irish national of blood. Not a plastic paddy from Nigeria. However, if I was in an Irish bar in Nigeria and there was a black man with an irish accent who grew up in Cork, I'd still give them half a point.

I like Guinness and Murphys. I'm not a fan of Beamish. If they only had Beamish on tap, I wouldn't penalise them for it. In fact I'd probably give them bonus points for having it because it's not super mainstream.
