Fuck man, that's like asking what's the best porn to fap to. There's so much nuance and so many factors that there's no "right" answer.
>Smash burger
Great as a stackable, flexible patty that can act as a flat platform for further garnishing or melted cheese. Wonderful for things like butter burgers or Caliph-ornia burgers where the meat is just part of a full experience
>Juicy Lucy
If you have a quality cook, who respects the time and effort that goes into melting the cheese core, it's a solid choice. However, the cook matters a lot, and if you're not going somewhere known for the stuffed burger patty, then you should really just pass on these guys
>Paddy Melt
Requires the best white bread you can get; a solid Texas toast is acceptable here. Past that point, just keep it simple.
Really we should focus on two questions
>The Garnish Question
It depends a lot on who's reading this. Shroom and Swiss - lettuce, onion, and tomato - bacon - fried egg and cheddar - others? All of these work. But there's so much variance and so many interesting things that pair with beef (and ground beef allows any beef pairing) that we need to trim down things.
>The Bun Question
This exists only as an answer to The Garnish Question. Pretzel buns work well if we're including bacon or some other pork product into the sandwich; after all both are German. Ciabatta buns work well if we're going with a much more "modern" vegetable-heavy burger. Sourdough and brioche are always an acceptable, if safe, option.
There is no "best" burger, OP. Just tell the world your tastes and we can steer you to the right direction.

The best kind of burger? Vegan.

Why? Because itโ€™s not just food โ€” itโ€™s a spiritual experience wrapped in lettuce and smugness.
One bite and my taste buds started composting. My chakras aligned. A squirrel nodded at me like we understood each other.

Meanwhile, your beef burger? Itโ€™s over there quietly raising the sea level and ghosting the planet.
Mine? Mine came with a free side of environmental justice and a handshake from Greta Thunberg herself.

So yeah. Vegan burger. Final answer.

Not to be a cunt, but the best vegan burger will beat out a beef paddy 95% of the time. At the gourmet level, a good beef paddy wins, but until you cross the $20 sandwich mark, the vegetarians are actually winning this one.

yeah i generally prefer veggie burgers too but they all seem to use yeast extract as a flavoring which becomes more noticeable as i eat more and starts to taste unpleasant. like stale beer and soy sauce.

>yeast extract as a flavoring
It's stupid as shit they do this. Mechanically, you can use chia or flaxseed to satisfy the binding element. As far as that cheesy-umami flavor goes, just fucking do it your own way (i.e. sesame seed oil or soy sauce) and have it come out better, if a different flavor profile.
