>boomers/gen x boiling burgers
This is the third time I've been served this. Where did they get this idea from?

this would only apply to you if you're in a kitchen nightmares episode from 2016.

this isn't part of actual reality.

Because it is easy to cook with easy cleanup. No splatter. It's fine when you just want something to eat so you aren't hungry and don't really care about taste.

I boil salmon fillets sometimes for just that reason. Throw some random sauce on it. Not awful.

In theory, the boiling water could be used to render fat if you did not have oil for the pan, and the water would keep the meat from sticking until it had boiled off and fat now frying the meat.

But I 100% doubt most of them comprehend this and have never thought about it.

I just take a chunk of ground beef, smear it on a plate with salt, cover with a paper towel and microwave it for 3 minutes. Squeeze of ketchup and chow down with a fork.

Yes. I do this. So I can shallow fry the meat in it's own fat. It looks like boiling at first.

That's how I make brats, just cover the bottom of the pan with water and a drop of oil, the water boils off in a few minutes and they are crisp on the outside, moist on the inside.

My ex's dad would do it, and my friend's mom just did it last night. I just don't understand where the logic comes from.

Doesn't look boiled. Boiled meat is completely grey not browned in the slightest. That burger was fried first and the water was added later.

that's just a picture off Kitchen Nightmares, they could be precooked patties for all I know.
