Did they change their recipe in the last 3-4 years? I on a whim decided to make Bisquick pancakes this morning and while cooking they didn't smell the same as I remembered. Two bites in and I had to thrown them out. They tasted like dirt/dust.

I changed my diapey in the last 3-4 minutes. I on a whim decided to make doo doo feces this evening and they smelled as vinegary as I remembered. Two braps in and I had to throw my head back in ecstacy. They smelled like egg/peppers.

yes, bisquick is now just self raising flour with a VERY small amount of shortening, salt, and sugar

notice the directions now say to add oil

if the ingredients list of your pancake mix doesn't start with flour, some kind of oil, some kind of milkfat(preferably powdered buttermilk)
it's complete shit and never buy it
also, it should have at least 3-4g of fat per ~40g serving
anything less and you don't have proper mix

Grew up with this stuff and it hasn't changed a bit my entire life. I don't get it very often though because it's not hard making pancakes from scratch and I have buttermilk on hand semi-frequently for biscuits or fried chicken.

If your package was stale that could explain it. Maybe there was a bad batch. I can't imagine they'd drastically change the recipe to taste like dust. Seems a poor business move.

You should have just made your own instead of buying the pancake mix at the store. It's really not that hard at all.

I pretty much use this recipe along with adding 1tsp of vanilla extract.
