Are they king of American slop? Even if KFC drags them down, the fact that they own both Taco Bell and Pizza Hut is formidable. I don't actually know what Habit is like.

KFC is literally 5th chicken chain in the US now
No they are not, only reason Yum hasnt collapsed in the USA is there's no Taco Bell equivalent competitor on a nationwide scale

The might be, but they won't be for much longer. KFC is shit. Pizza Hut is shit. Never heard of Habit. Taco Bell is the only chain on this list that is still halfway decent, but the fact is that they are rapidly declining. Every time I go, it actually gets worse and worse. There was a time, up until about 5 or 6 years ago, when Taco Bell seemed like a good value. If you had $10 and went to Taco Bell, you could legitimately purchase substantially more calories than you could at McDonalds or Burger King or other fast food restaurants. That's not really true anymore. Taco Bell is about the same value as McDonald's, just with pseudo-mexican food instead of Burgers and Fries.

I got a chicken quesadilla at Taco Bell last week for the first time in nearly a decade. And I couldn't believe how awful it was. It was nearly paper thin, with hardly any chicken. It was just fucking sad.

The only saving grace with Taco Bell is that the quality is somewhat location dependent. You can still find good TBs that give you substantial portion sizes. But there are others that skimp you. There's a Taco Bell near me ran entirely by Indians and it's the closest one to me so I go there frequently, but I think after the quesadilla experience last week I'm finally done. Much better to go to a taco bell staffed by teenagers and stoner whites in their 20s and 30s than to go to one ran by Indians who are actively trying to screw you over so they can profit more

What IS the best fast food pizza place? Don't say Papa John's, I've had it, it's trash.

Habit is a shitty imitation of a local millennial burger joint, which are already mediocre themselves.

One of the reasons Yum! does better outside the US is because, in many countries (especially the smaller ones), they don't license out franchises to individual randos.
Their operations are entirely managed by a local monolithic corporation who is the sole licensee. This helps with consistency across locations.

Also, in my neck of the woods, Pizza Hut still is leader of the sit-down experience. Their only real competitor in the extended dine-in (as in, not just a couple tables strewn around the pick-up area) chain pizza is Dodo Pizza, and they're noticeably a bit more downmarket.

Taco Bell corporate runs its locations pretty well but they're really loose about what they let the franchise locations get away with. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there's no way on the location finder to determine if a location is corporate owned or not.

Not really, i'd say they were at one point but they've been falling off. KFC has been absolutely dethroned and left behind by so many other, better options these days. Pizza Hut lost its grip when stuffed crust became an option for all pizza joints and people stopped dining in for Pizza. Taco bell is the only thing keeping them afloat, but they haven't innovated anything with it lately. Its all overpriced reminders of when the place used to actually be good, and when they tried to innovate. Never had Habit, but i've also never seen one, so I think that speaks to its veracity as one of its brands.

I understand this argument, and I would agree. But the truth is that even the "good" Taco Bells are a far cry from just regular Taco bells 5, 10, or 15 years ago. The biggest downfall of modern taco bell was the elimination of the Quesarito. Why did they get rid of this beloved item? It was popular, and good. Instead they brought back the "mexican pizza" which always sucked.

Only thing that makes sense to me is that the Quesarito, even into the 2020s, was simply too good of a deal. From what I recall it was like $3.50 or something, and it was a solid amount of food. In 2020 they made it in-app only, couldn't order it otherwise. And two years ago they removed it entirely. Everyone loved it. Only reason I can think they got rid of it is that they thought it wasn't profitable enough, and the choice was either raise the price, which would cause outrage, or just get rid of it entirely.

Getting rid of it allows them to build hype, people will have fond memories, and by 2028 they'll bring back the Quesarito for the low price of $8.99 and people will cry tears of joy because they are retarded

In Michigan, KFCs are still higher quality apparently than anywhere else. Popeyes is fuckin' bland compared to KFC, in MI. And I dont eat at local chicken places because you know those people don't clean the fryers since health inspectors dont bother with dive places.

Also in Michigan, we don't really like Pizza Hut despite it being local, because Jets, Hungry Howies, Happys, and Little Caesars are all better

Taco Bell, only real competition in Michigan is Del Taco, and they offer very different products

The Habit is a good middle between 5 Guys and In-n-Out
Taco Bell is delicious
KFC just got cocky
Pizza Hut got stuck in an eternal middle that they'll never escape

Can someone explain to an European what's up with pizzahut? Tried it two times in separate countries. Pizza tasted roughly the same both times but it was worse than those combined pizza, kebab, burger places whose main business is money laundering. At least it wasn't a health hazard, but it was bland as fuck.
Same with KFC. The place was brimming with Americans, but you can get cheaper and better chicken at every second train station and off the lunch menu of every single butcher shop.

>combined pizza, kebab, burger places whose main business is money laundering
Money laundering places tend to have decent to good food, since ingredient costs aren't a factor in their cashflow.
So the comparison isn't really valid.

I don't know where this cliché comes from. Most criminal clans today are stingy as fuck, if it aint for the luxurious lifestyle of the top dogs, and the people at the counter in those places more often than not, have no drive to work and don't want returning customers interrupting their perpetual smoke break.
It's the exception rather than the rule that they let their mom/grandma/wife have their own little restaurant for fun and then the menu is usually not all over the place.
