ETL here. I have a thing for US fast food and would like to try as many of them as I can, don't judge me. We have the usual chains (McDs, Burger King, Subway, etc.), but not the more rare ones. I will be traveling to another country next week and I always make a point to try the traditional national and local foods, but they also have 2 US chains I haven't tried yet - Chipotle Mexican Grill and Five Guys.

I'm looking forward to pigging out on Five Guys on the day of my return flight since it has been relentlessly recommended to me throughout the years. Getting a Bacon Cheeseburger, a Bacon Cheese Dog, Cajun Style Fries and a Milkshake.

What about the Chipotle stuff? I read mixed things. Sadly the country I'm going to does not have a Taco Bell slop or I would have hit that as well. I want a burrito and a taco with everything, simple.

Anything I should get or I'm missing from those two?

I've never had chipotle. Too many cases of e. coli outbreaks. Listeria once too. I wouldn't if I were you. Five guys is good, but not worth what they charge. The burgers are basically slightly better wendy's.

You would be better off looking for a Culver's or Freddy's instead of Five Guys.

If it's outside the country of origin then it's not representative of the chain because they'll swap up half their menu with things that locals like there. Still worth a visit in case you ever do actually visit the chain in the country of origin but I'd consider it almost a different chain at that point.

They have none of those. I've tried Culver's and White Castle already anyway,

No you! Literally the best non-gourmet fast food burgers.

chipotle is fine but its really expensive now for what you get
just get a burrito with whatever meat you think sounds best (steak or barbacoa imo), fajita veggies, and the hottest sauce. cheese and/or sour cream if you want

They are both overhated because they are at a more expensive price point but are still perceived as fast food adjacent, which makes poors seethe. Both will be notably better than what you are probably thinking of for US fast food but at a price point to reflect the quality improvement.
Chipotle is pretty good, but it's definitely not really Mexican food. I think the value for money is fine, it's definitely somewhere I can rely on while traveling for work to be both good enough and healthy enough if I'm stuck in a suburban shithole. But if I were a broke mouth breather that just cares about dollars-per-calorie I'd perceive it as overpriced (probably due to brain damage from poor nutrition).
Five Guys is just okay. I'd just go to a local spot known for a good burger, but if you really want to try it get the cajun fries. I personally don't think the price is quite worth it.

Sounds like you’re covered, one thing to note though is Five Guys quality can vary a lot between franchises.

What’s been your favorite fast food place so far, and what is one you really want to try?
