Same here bro, every time I think about gargling some dude's balls I just gaze upon a painting of a restrained naked muscle guy writhing and moaning on a cross and I beg his ghost to help me resist "satan", a totally real person who is externally putting these thoughts into my head

You RINSE berries with water, if you even feel the need to do that. If you picked wild berries maybe soak them in water to surface any worms or bugs.

Why the fuck would you use soap on food? I'll avoid a politically incorrect suggestion here, but you can probably see what I'm getting at.
Don't be stupid.

I've washed really dirty, oily apples in soap before and I'd do it again.

it's fine. Castile soap, diluted mind you, can break down the waxed coatings that can hold in residual commercial pesticides and poorly washed dirt.

Probably not necessary on wild berries, which organically should have nothing more than ordinary dirt on them, you'd think that would be easily water-soluble. Soap is disinfectant in general, kills bacteria, so a-okay for getting buggy excrement or from your hands, I guess.

Apples are way different, though they don't require soap either. Berries are delicate and have a lot of complex surface area, especially drupelet berries like raspberries and blackberries. You're not getting all the soap out of all those tiny crevices. What the fuck?

>Soap is disinfectant
Soap is not a disinfectant, mate. Soap lifts dirt, grime, bacteria, etc. so you can easily rinse it off abd it provides an alkaline environment that prohibits growth. It doesn't really kill anything.

you're in luck, Bronner's hippy family removed his manifesto and cover the bottle with something lamer.

I wash fruits and veggies with soap made with potassium hydroxide, it's great.

alternatively you soak your berries for 15 min in a solution of water + baking soda. helps removing dirt and pesticides

I've been obsessed with all manner of berries my whole life, they are probably my favorite category of food and I both graze on ones I find and grow my own. I've hardly ever even rinsed a berry let alone actually washed it with soap. I actually attribute the fact that I eat many unwashed things like berries and other wild foods to giving me a strong constitution because I never get sick and can digest seemingly anything

Very cool, how much yard space do you have? I’m up to 20 blueberry bushes now but all the wild animals love them too, I’m definitely washing the ones I pick given the birds alone.
