>>21453124 (OP)All cola has an undernote of "tutti-frutti" or "bubble gum", it's more noticeable in off-brand colas like sam's cola or something. I find that that particular aromatic note is stronger in pepsi than coca-cola, which can give the impression that it is sweeter. Coca-Cola has a slightly more spicy or acidic aroma, probably a higher proportion of citrus and clove oil.
That being said, the two brands are 95% identical in their original full-sugar formulation. Where the difference is most palpable is in their diet soda products.
Diet coke is much lighter in texture and has a bright, delicate nose of palm leaves or woodruff. Diet pepsi is much darker and thicker textured, more reminiscent of caramel or roasted nuts.
