Why would you ever eat lizards on rice when you could have steak and a potato? Help me understand non American cuisine, because this makes no sense to me

Here, some people eat rabbit, but it's pretty much just the novelty of having a unique meat, because there is little to no meat on a rabbit, lizards would be even worse

For variety’s sake, although my lizard meals usually are not as bland as this. Usually I just heat up a pan and throw in everything but the kitchen skink.
