Gen X kid here, growing up it was a huge treat to get a can of Ray's Coney Island sauce for our hotdogs. When you opened the can there was a half inch of seasoned grease with dark red sauce filled with very finally minced beef below it. After heating it up and putting that on your hotdog it was elevated to new levels of flavor. I bought a can over a year ago I have been saving for a special day to enjoy some Coney Island dogs. Well I decided that day is today. I opened the can to find a wholly different product inside. Gone was the half inch of seasoned grease. Gone was the dark red sauce with finely minced beef. It was replaced by a boring homogeneous brown sauce that looked like the racial make up of the west in two more generations. Gone was the delicious greasy spiced flavor. It was replaced by something that reminded me of shitty Hormel canned chili. Another treasured treat from my childhood gone so some corporate fat cat can save half a penny on every can produced.

Are you anywhere near Connecticut? Try Capitol Lunch in New Britain, a family owned location for nearly a century, currently operated by the elder Gerald and younger Matthew Warchezski. The location is known to locals as “Crapitol Lunch” and are known to come in and ask for “the shit sauce”. 2 hotdogs and an order of fries is commonly called a “Big Shitter”. You won’t find this on any menu, but if you’re a true local you’ll know. The Famous Sauce is often served in small ramekins commonly called “dookie drops” by locals and used for dipping. The sauce is also sold for $10 for an 8 ounce container, something many New Britain locals take advantage of due to the popularity of the Famous Sauce. Locals know to order it as a “Big Dump” and the owners aren’t shy about giving a little extra to people who order this way, knowing they’re what’s called a “tool city townie” and thus one of their own.

I bought a big bag of 100 pizza rolls that I was so excited to eat while drunk over 4th of July weekend and they tasted like shit. The outside was a dark wheat and there was almost no filling inside. The cheese was a small cube instead of anything melted and the sausage tasted like my ass. I was so disappointed but I guess that's what I get for eating slop.

Maybe your opened can was stored better, recently shaken, and didn't separate so completely? Surprising that their recipe actually changed, really.

Your picture is disgusting, btw. Pick a lane. It's either relish or ketchup or mustard onions and chili. Pick one or we're all going to know that you have shitty ideas about food without actual experiences.

I'll tell you one childhood favorite of mine that HASN'T been ruined by shrinkflation: Dagwood Dogs - corndogs to you seppo deadheads
They were $3 10 years ago and they're still $3 at my local hot chicken place - which I guess technically means they're even cheaper than they were before
It sounds stupid but I love these things like you wouldn't believe

Pringles. In my country we used to get the American made version of the product.
A decade ago to enable cheaper production & shipping outside the USA they built a new factory in malaysia.
The new Malaysian version are shit, flavourless and much smaller. Completely ruined. they also keep shrinking the packages. USA they're 155g. Ours are only 134g for the basic flavours, and all the special flavours are 118g.
This isn't "shrink"flation, just regular inflation but when I was a kid my family would once every few months have chinese takeaway and it would cost less than $50 to feed 7 people. To get the same thing now would probably cost $200 as when I bought some for myself a few months ago it cost $50 for a fried rice and two meat dishes.

I used to order huge sandwiches. Ham, Turkey, Salami, lettuce, onions, pickles with Honey Mustard.
I still think pickles, onions, and honey mustard is a pungeant combo that should be used together more often.
Anyway shit is like 13 dollars now. I aint paying for that.

Right! I remember as a kid in the late 70's early 80's they were the bomb. crispy on the outside, filled solid with cheese and pepperoni. I bought some a couple years ago, and ended up throwing them away. they were hollow and shit.

ice cream doesn't come in half gallons anymore.

bacon is hard to find in one pound packs.

chip bags are less than half full and fluffed with air.

snickers bars are half the size they used to be.

canned foods used to be in 16 oz cans, good luck finding that size anymore.

sugar used to be in 5lb bags not 4, not 3 FIVE!

girl scout cookies are the worst offenders.

and the thing that pisses me off the most is they cut all the fat off meat.
