Discuss American Cheese
Why is each slice individually wrapped in plastic?
Why is it impossible to melt?
Why does it taste so sweet and synthetic?
What is it actually made out of?
Why would anyone use this over real cheese?
What are the long term health consequences of consuming it?
Anonymous No.21456626 [Report] >>21456633 >>21457278 >>21460070 >>21460076 >>21462406
It isn't individually wrapped in plastic unless you buy those horrid discusting Kraft Singles or something.

It melts beautifully you dolt

It is several cheeses emulsified together with emulsifying salts; the cheeses are chosen for their mild creamy flavours, not their saltiness or crumbly texture

It is technically real cheese, just processed as above. And it tace good

Probably them salts aren't very good for you

>Why is each slice individually wrapped in plastic?
To give goymutts their daily dose of microplastics.
>Why is it impossible to melt?
Because you touch yourself at night.
>Why does it taste so sweet and synthetic?
Because it is.
>What is it actually made out of?
Cheese and emulsifiers.
>Why would anyone use this over real cheese?
Americans love zogslop more than real food.
>What are the long term health consequences of consuming it?

it is LITERALLY impossible to melt American cheese. You can heat it as long as you want and as high as a temp as you want, the best you can get is a semi solid that can be broken up, but it will never enter a true liquid state.

You are being a bit silly, American 'cheese' (imitation cheese flavored food product) does melt at room temperature.

The only reason to use american cheese is because of how well it melts and how resistant it is to splitting after it melts. American cheese is a combination of two different cheeses and emulsifying salts. At least know about the thing you're shittalking anon, god damn.

It's true. I'm from Italy but my cousins are Swiss. I've mentioned this before but I used to make the fondue using proper cheeses but also a few sottilette (ie Italian American cheese, which comes in more flavours than in America and I don't know why). That small addition doesn't affect the overall taste but greatly improves the texture. I've mentioned that trick here before.

Because you only want a few slices or as few as one at a time.

It's not, people melt it on burgers all the time.
>Why does it taste so sweet and synthetic?
I don't think it does.

Cut up cheese, sodium citrate, sodium hexametaphosphate.

I literally never use mine it just came with the place so I have one. I only used one once or twice to thaw food but it started cooking the meat so I quit doing that. I pretty much only use it for microwave popcorn which is rare but I've been thinking about getting one of those stovetop popper things. I'm just saying I've never lived somewhere that didn't come with a microwave. It's not even an option to pay less and omit one they just come standard.
Anonymous No.21463016 [Report]
>>21462992
yeah I know a lot of houses and apartments come with different appliances, like washing, fridges, nukrowaves, etc. in my country that sort of thing is actually pretty rare, you own a fridge and a washing machine and a microwave and you move them from place to place. the exception is definitely dishwashers, nobody is moving that shit around and installing them

also the microwave can be very effective at thawing meat but you can't trust the "defrost" setting, you really have to go full manual (like, 8min at 2/10 power kind of manual) otherwise exactly what you said will happen, the meat will end up partially still frozen and also partially cooked. devastating for any meat; beef, fish, chicken.
