I was the OP of this https://warosu.org/ck/thread/21363362 and I wanted to share how it went. First of all, thanks for all the suggestions, it made it super easy for me. I tried most of the things recommended, never had any stomach problems (surprised me, really) and me and my friend were very happy with the food. It was generally on the blander side, not many spices, some sauces, but was tasty in a basic way. Here's a breakdown of some of the stuff:
Potatoes - everywhere, cooked in all manner of ways, personally liked the oven roasted ones the most, all of them were tasty though, Germans know their potatoes.
Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) - looked impressive, but only some of the meat tasted nice, the rest was meh (could have been that particular kitchen). Still, I am happy I tried it. Not my favourite.
Currywurst - ok as a fast food I guess, nothing special
Sausages with sauerkraut (bratwurst was top) and beer - they were all good, anons that said quality control is high level weren't joking, all sausages were tasty, no bones or gristle, etc. There were 4 major types of sausages in the places we visited, but I forgot the names kek.
Sauerkraut - hit or miss, didn't like it in one place (very bland), liked it in another (had a sharper sour bite to it). I was looking forward to this the most, been hearing about it for years. My conclusion is that it really depends on your personal sour taste comfort level and what you are pairing it with. Can't really eat it on its own like poatoes, for example.
Green sauce - by far my favourite. It was FANTASTIC everywhere I tried it and I did try to order it as much as I could as a side. Worked with everything - meat, potatoes, eggs, bread, you name it. Amazingly refreshing, a blend of herbs, sour cream, yogurt, oil and whatever other stuff they got in there that enhances everything. I even ate it without nothing just for the flavour. Special thanks to the anon that suggested it. Can't recommend it enough.
