Hobo pouches. Just wrap a bunch of crap in foil and set it on the coals, or next to the fire. Or, if you want to larp as a cowboy, set a can of baked beans near the fire and guzzle a bottle of cheap whiskey until unconscious.

no actually I was thinking grilling, using a pan you would be able to use a smaller fire. You just can't directly heat with fire otherwise you just burn stuff.
