Expensive "nice" stores tend to be cleaner and less crowded in addition to what >>21462470
said. People who over-fill their cart with junk food and pay with a "gold" card definitely fall into that category.

>FOOD & PHARMACY

When they offer services like non-instacart delivery, pickup, sushi bar, store-cut fresh produce, and a full service bakery that's going to add to the prices.

Even years later, seeing past the bullshit, I still shop there over Walmart. It's a lot less draining all around.

Biggest drain on profits is actually the deli. For whatever reason, they're almost never in the black.

Sounds like Albertsons back in the 90's. Before the merger, their fried chicken mogged KFC.

It's crazy that when I go to one Kroger store, I'm always likely to see at least one or two Porsches. It's not even an upscale area and there's a Bristol Farms a few miles further away.

You'd be surprised what some of these companies consider justifiable reasons. Many of them cut hours for front end staff (cashiers and courtesy clerks) first. If a store has even an adequately staffed front end, they're going to find a way to recuperate that.

Where do Floridians shop if they don't want to get fucked in the ass by expensive grocery stores? I was down there recently and didn't see a single Kroger store, only Publix and whole foods. Do they really have to pay absurd prices for groceries?

Winn-Dixie has long focused on working class shoppers, which is why when Wal-Mart entered the grocery industry, WD entered its long decline. Aldi is converting a bunch of WD locations over to Aldi stores and spinning off the rest. So the answer is Aldi and the remaining Winn-Dixies. Plus Wal-Mart.

same reason people go to trader joes, to avoid the plebs. their fresh produce is pretty decent but to shop there buying anything not on sale or bogo is just throwing money away. also I guess the pub subs are okay'ish and has the same cult following as costco hotdog level of cumsoomerizm
and they pay their workers more so if you want to help fund your fellow wagies without walmart or amazon level slavery then thats a added bonus
>>21462470
this is pretty much the only reason
same reason people go to target
my town has had walmart and kroger for 30 years and we just got a publix last year. the typical customers shop at publix and never busy

Publix is a largest employee owned company in the world. That tends to make them treat the employees better than competitors. That the chain is able to succeed shows there's a large enough market for higher price groceries in a somewhat nicer environment.
Kroger prices over the past few years have risen so much that I don't see Publix as being that much more expensive, especially since Publix has far better sales.

Their fresh departments are all solid and totally worth it if you follow their weekly deals, but there is never a reason to buy groceries there. Still I get it, people are willing to spend more to avoid minorities.

They need to make their subs more expensive. It's like $12 for 4.chicken fingers from the deli. But, they will put 4 fingers on a sub for $10. Blacks will wait in line for 30 minutes to get the chicken tender sub. Rais the price to $25 and weed them out.

I go to costco for all my bulk necessities, chicken breast and ground turkey and such, then supplement with occasional trips to publix or aldis as needed. If i didn't have it then god only knows because publix meat prices are absurd now. Aldis is alright but the quality is just a little shit.

Too many people in florida and constant throngs of out of state carpetbaggers moving here = tons and tons of retards who think they're paying for a "premium" and to not rub elbows with the riff raff. Which is bullshit, every time I walk through a publix I see nothing but absurd prices, stoners and non english speakers working the deli, and lowlifes/unattended children everywhere. You might as well go to Walmart/Winn Dixie at that rate. Best case you have a costco near you but if not you're shit out of luck. The solution is to force everyone not born in Florida to move out because we're full.

Funny you should post this now. About a month ago I completely stopped going to Publix. I realized my bill there was always unreasonable high. Now I get 90% of my stuff at Aldi. Ive cut my food bill almost in half. Its insane. The food is just as good. The only difference is Aldi has fewer employees so theres no asking you if you need help, etc, but honestly as an autist I like that. I dont really want to talk to people. I just want to get my food and go home. Aldi really is the perfect store
