i have two variants of käsespätzle: the low effort ones, nearly just like you did, but i also use cream and a hand full of parsley.
the higher effort one: is a casserole. i do the same stuff as with low effort but i skip parsley. instead i caramelize onion. the layers are: käsespätzle, caramelized onions, cheese.
