Had stomach surgery, this is how I have to eat for 1 month: blended, light and without spices that can upset the stomach and generate acidity.

How can I use this opportunity to learn something valuable, culinarily speaking?

i've had my food processor still brand new in the box for almost 6 years now and haven't touched it out of laziness. first things i'd make is hummus and pesto (you'd have to really make sure the pine nuts are ground up though)

Pesto sounds like an awful idea for whatever OPs damage is. Oily and garlicky, sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Thanks anon.
I’m used to making pesto, hummus too!
I was thinking more like how to learn how to balance the ingredients and to learn how to incorporate flavours into a blended purée.
Is there a specific order for blending ingredients or is it irrelevant if I do like in the video and blend everything at once?

After 7 years, I had surgery to remove the Linx anti reflux device from my stomach and they performed a Dor fundoplication to cover the cut into the esophagus and reinforce the LES to give me basic anti reflux protection.

I had a lot of problems because of the Linx, in short it caused my digestion to become so slow I developed SIBO and because of that shit I’m a skeleton, I’ve been not able to gain weight for the last year while I was eating for 2 people…now I’m recovering from the surgery and I’m waiting to see if what they did will benefit me. Hopefully.

This linx thing seems like bullshit, I’m not sure why it exists at all since fundoplication exists. How long is the recovery for fundoplication? I had a Nissen done, but I also had a heller myotomy at the same time and I think that’s the thing that really laid me up, I think I was pretty much useless for 2 weeks just because it feel like someone stabbed my insides (I mean… that’s kind of what they did).

i don't think it matters when the end result is an even slop. i guess generally blend solids first, then slowly blend in liquids/runny stuff

Linx worked wonderfully as far as reflux management went, had zero or almost reflux for 7 years and stopped taking PPIs.
The problems as I said were the collateral damage, basically since I had it I started losing weight from 82 to 54 kg and I’m still not 100% sure it’s Linx fault, but they removed it.
Dor is basically a patch, they pulled a piece of stomach to cover the cut and reinforce. No rotation of the stomach and heavy manipulation, it was needed because of the cut into the esophagus, otherwise I would be back to natural. Good thing is that it’s reversible up to 2-3 years max, should it create issues.
I’m at the 11th day post surgery and I’m eating 60-70% of the meal portions I used to eat before surgery (I gradually raised the portions), I have little pain as in burping can be difficult at times because of the edema but I’m pretty fine.
Probably I’ll be back to normal solid diet in 2 weeks.
Now I’m under PPIs twice a day for 1 month to protect the stomach, then we will see if I can live without…

No, it’s too soon, only some black tea when I was at the hospital.
I’ll try it as soon as I can anon, I’m sure I will have some kind of issues like before the surgery because part of the problem is that the super slow digestion made the coffee stay into my stomach for a lot of time giving me reflux and pain, so to cure this I need to heal the digestive tract and eradicate the SIBO which is the second culprit of the slow digestion.
At worst I can always take some pill, but of course I don’t want that shit. They’re poison.

Just seems like a weird device to me, but then again I had achalasia so my surgery goals where to loosen things instead of tighten them. Having magnets inside of you seems hella inconvenient.

Anyhow, make mashed potatoes your friend, it’s the best ‘normal’ food that fits with the initial diet restrictions. You might get tempted to blend pasta: don’t, it’s awful. I feel like with SIBO some of my other favs are not a good option (yogurt was nice, ice cream perfect). Blended soups could probably be good.

Do you know what your first meal will be once you’re healed enough to eat normal food again?

Are fruit smoothies allowed? If so I'd recommend going to the store and trying to recreate ones you see in shops based on their ingredient list.

I make banana smoothies in the morning, with just banana, rice or millet “milk”, peanut butter or hazelnut cream, and Ceylon cinnamon. I’ll add rolled oats when I’ll be allowed.

Duck egg on the side.

I'm a bit scared and I hope the nightmare that accompanied me for the last 7 years will end soon.

Off limits with SIBO for now, sadly, but I will get there.
I have a lot of goat kefir to drink.

OP... I have bad news for you. your stomach generates acid not matter what. no food you eat has acid stronger that what is in your stomach, and no food causes your stomach to generate extra acid.

got my gangrenous appendix removed which led to an infection due to the surgeon failing to clean the area which took about a month out of my life. i used the opportunity toto lose weight not like i was ever hungry. also anti biotics for a month make you have toddler tier smooth skin just extremely soft and smooth to the touch not only that my dick head became extremely shiny and smooth like a piece of shiny plastic or literally like picrel

You know that chronic acid reflux can cause degradation of the mucosal linings of the esophagus and cardiac sphincter, leading to ulcers, infections, and even esophageal rupture, right?

Not to mention a higher rate of developing esophageal cancer, which is one of those ‘well I guess I’ll just die’ kinds of cancer.

Besides, the pharma shekel misers don’t want you to have surgical fixes anyway, they want you to take PPIs which legitimately will fuck you up.

stay strong anon. I had to stay on a similar diet for 3 months after a terrible jaw fracture and a major surgery to correct it. Youll get used to it after the first few days, also you will crave for bold flavours, its like your brain is sending you a signal that it isnt being satisfied by food that isnt chewed. So dont go easy on the salt, pepper and sugar.

Iced tea jello is pretty good in the summer, which is now if you on the hemisphere that matters.
