God shitalians are still buck broken their whole invasion of France in the 1940 was repelled by only 12 dudes. Few shitholes are as obnoxious as italian when it come to food
>pizza
like said itt, everyone eat the american version
>pasta
Nothing special about it, everyone make pasta. The chinks made it before, spain are the ones that gave tomato to the italians to make their sauce.
As for French cuisine, they have the best bread, best cheese and best booze in the world. Everyone running a high intensity kitchen run on their system. All those sauces you take for granted are all French.

inb4 b-b-b-but an italian invented ice cream and lolypops back in 1500s in the court of a foreign monarch because there was no italy back then, it should be counted as italian food

Holy cope, beyond pizza, pasta and mozzarella, the avg person don't care or know about italian food. If you notice, it's all basic shit that every culture has already appropriated and made better. Italian food is seriously overrated while Spanish and Portuguese cooking are underrated. French cuisine is rightfully the king of modern cuisine considering almost everything came from it. Hell I'd say Austria had a bigger impact on the world of cooking than Italy with their pastries.

inb4 they owned parts of italy back in their imperial day so we get to claim part of it
behavior of a conquered mutt with nothing to stand on their own

>coq au vin and ratatouille
Not even true, Boeuf Bourguignon and Snails are the ones that are the most known internationally and of course the french fries which everyone take for granted but everyone forget it's french. My point is that most of the sauces come from the french mother sauces and all the organization on how to run a modern kitchen come from the french model. This isn't about food, it's about pure influence in the field of cuisine. If I wanted to suck off French food, I would have to go into its high variety of regional dish and only China can rival that variety despite being massively huge compared to France. Food is all subjective so a country that has a thousand style is statistically better than a country that only has one style and a couple of signature dish.

I'm not sure if I'd stand by all those perfectly, but they roughly feel right to me and I achieved a decent normal distribution in the end.

Roughly the tiers:
>S tier
Outstanding cuisine with very large amount of variety and many techniques to learn that apply to every type of cookery
>A tier
World class cuisines with interesting flavors and great execution
>B tier
More great than boring dishes, decent variety, good flavors. Having a few meh dishes is what stops them from being A tier usually.
>C tier
Good, solid food. If you're suggesting going to a restaurant and it's one of these, I'll look forward to it.
>D tier
Solid flavors, sometimes a bit of a let down in the execution. I'll still gladly go to a restaurant that has these, but probably wouldn't choose it myself.
>E tier
A few good dishes, but not enough to redeem the entire cuisine. I might suggest some alternatives if you want to go to a restaurant serving these.
>F tier
The bad. Few redeeming dishes, overall mostly a letdown and unfulfilling. Couldn't think of a single cuisine deserving this tier.
>Had too rarely to judge
Foods I've had once or twice, but either had to look up to remind myself what they were, or I remember that I had them but not what I felt about them at the time. I'd have to have more different foods to make a judgement call.

If it matters, I'm german. Probably why I rated germany C, if I wasn't and didn't know a lot more local dishes due to it, I'd have put germany and austria lower, maybe D.

>Almost all good Indian food comes from either Pakistan or the area bordering Pakistan
When? If we're talking forever ago, then frankly I don't care. This isn't about who invented food, it's about how I judge their cuisines as they are right now. If we go by "who invented it" then hong kong or israel for example shouldn't even be on the list at all - barely any of their dishes are truly original.
All I can go off are the dishes I've tasted, and there pakistani food usually wasn't as good as indian food.
I'll grant you it's possible that the places here that have it and the recipes I've cooked were just bad examples, but I somehow doubt that.

There's some really good israeli restaurants here.
Msabbaha, sabich, amba, hummus and rugelach are all great.
And then they have a lot of mildly modified dishes from the surrounding areas like baba ganoush, middle eastern salad, falafel etc.
I don't cook much israeli food myself other than msabbaha which is amazing, but I do find myself enjoying a lot of israeli restaurants.
Greek is probably debuffed because I had it a lot as a kid, so it has lost a lot of its allure. Same with vietnamese just to a lesser extent. I never had any israeli foods until I was an adult except for hummus, so that makes it more exciting I guess.

Palestine I'd grant you, but my takeaway from palestinian food is it has too little variety - meanwhile israeli food steals from a bunch of different cultures, hence you get a lot more variety. I really like Mussakhan, but other than that I don't know many dishes I really like from there.

Iranian food is nothing like israeli or palestinian food unless you're being so reductive that you group it as middle eastern, in which case french, spanish and italian food are the same because they are european. Iranian food tastes very distinctly different.

There aren't really any nyc restaurants here, so I wouldn't mentally classing them as such.
But if there was one, I'd probably love it.
If you restrict israeli food to only strictly original israeli inventions, then it's a pretty small selection, I'd agree.
It's the same as the guy complaining I rate india higher than pakistan when many dishes are supposedly from there originally - I don't really care about who has historical ownership, moreso if I think of the country, what's the first few dishes that come to mind to cook or eat at a restaurant and how I'd judge them, both in taste and variety.
It's similar with russian, georgian and ukrainian foods or a lot of the asian cuisines having overlap, it's moreso my initial association rather than who actually can claim ownership of it historically.
