Some bad examples I'm aware of:

>Japanese + Chinese using ketchup in "Italian" food
>Japanese using a British (kek) recipe for "Indian" curry
>Americans using broccoli in "Chinese" food
>Americans using xtra-sharp cheddar in "Mexican" food
>Americans using pineapple in "Italian" pizza

One good example I'm aware of is Peru and their Chinese-origin "chifa" cuisine, such as lomo saltado.

The American version is better than both instances. The little pussy boy is too weak to handle extra sharp cheese? In America we have every type of topping for pizza and not just a lonely basil leaf on shitty burnt wheat flour bread. It's basically cheese bread. You are a complete moron.

They don't, though. They use it on American pizza. They think we don't even have pineapple pizza in Italy (we do).
Honestly, I much prefer my westernised version of bibimbap over the authentic. Simply put, I don't like fernbrake, mung sprouts or whatever doraji is called in English (it's a root) as toppings and much prefer the ones I use (carrot, a leafy green, red cabbage and either baby corn or yellow courgette).
I prefer Americanised sushi to authentic.
I like peranakan Chinese food more than mainland.
I like Mexicanised shawarma more than the real one (pork>lamb).
I think that's about it.

Viennese cuisine is basically a mashup of regional cuisines of the Austrian Empire. It's actually really good.
Belgian cuisine is another example. They've been fighting a losing battle for independence throughout history only to come out victorious in the end. Almost all of their classic dishes contain elements from abroad which they improved out of necessity.
Ragout is a French sauce brought to Italy by Napoleon. The Italians did their own thing with it. The French introduced tomatoes in Italy, which were inedible ornamental plants at the time. The Italians cross-bred them (a Belgian technique) until they became delicious. The Belgians came up with tame pigs and cured ham by cross-breeding wild boar. But it were the Italians who perfected the art of curing ham.
Ceviche is an Arabic, maybe Persian invention which made its way into Spain, and later Peru. There's no doubt Peruvians improved the dish and made it their own.
Both the Italians and Dutch managed to produce far better chocolate than anyone else could.
French discipline and organization in the kitchen allows anyone anywhere on the planet to produce better, healthier, safer food nowadays.
Plenty more examples. Alphonso mangoes were unknown in the west until a decade ago. Same goes for Tangerines, Yuzu, Kampot pepper, grains of paradise etc. Even seaweed varieties. I mean, these are some exciting times we live in.

The problem is that if itโ€™s any good, people start recognizing it as itโ€™s own dish.

Anyways, ramen. The dish evolved from Chinese noodle dishes in the early 1900โ€™s, and became popular in Japan post WW2. Yet itโ€™s way more popular than the Chinese dishes it was derived from.
Honestly I donโ€™t think people would hold Japanese food in high regard if it werenโ€™t for ramen.

Agree on #1, banh mi slaps. Unsure what the true original is, but it's certainly a lot better than croque monsieur or Jersey Mike's.

As for #2 it might be one of the most retarded takes ever. America gave us such atrocities as meat pizza, chicken BBQ pizza, pepperoni pizza, any "Mexican" variety of pizza, Caesar salad pizza, and Domino's with their cheesy crust.

The good kinds of "American" pizza I've had have been, like, this thing called "pizza alfresco" with arugula and cherry tomatoes. But IDK how American or Italian it was. It was at some "American" tavern rather than some enchanted romantic wine Italian date spot.

I once had some pastry in a Chinese (kek) bakery though called "Osaka pizza", and it had stuff like pork floss and octopus shreds on top. Can't remember if it were true pizza or some variation of what I now know to be okonomiyaki, though.

It's a bit arrogant to say that.

I think Italian pasta is better than our pasta.

I think our pizza is up to par but I am sure someone that fell for the "they put too much cheese in it" meme will disagree. (Wrong, fugazzetta is not our only style, tourist videos meme too much about it, you can get all sorts of different types of pizza here I don't know why they always drag tourists to the meme places)

However, and I will die on this hill, we make better gelatto/ice cream than the Italians and the best in the world.

Curry Beef - curry is delicious with beef, I also pretty much like every culture's version of curry than India's (too mushy)

Butter Chicken Pizza - butter chicken is delicious because it's not mush like curry, it's so savoury, it goes great with crispy pizza -- and pizza goes better with it than naan because naan would be too greasy.

Butter Chicken sauce with onions -- I'm told this is 'inauthentic' but it's delicious, I'm used to just adding the VH Butter Chicken sauce to rice, I tried some authentic Indian brand Butter Chicken sauce, I think the brand stared with S, it tasted very sour and was much more reddish with colour, I couldn't even finish it, it was also much more textured.

Pineapples on Pizza, with ham and bacon -- The Canadian

Avocado with Salmon Sushi, I'm sorry nips, but I can't eat salmon sushi without Avocado.

>Honestly I donโ€™t think people would hold Japanese food in high regard if it werenโ€™t for ramen.
I can't agree with that at all. I'm old enough to remember a time when most westerners had never even heard of real ramen (only the instant poverty kind) and you had to go to one of very few Japanese diaspora areas to find the real deal, and yet Japanese food was still very highly regarded, mostly because of sushi. Actually, I think the whole Japanese food scene in the US was better back then, you could find tons of little family-owned Japanese restaurants that did katsu, tempura, various bento, etc., while nowadays it seems like there's nothing but mediocre ramen and shit sushi served in IKEA-esque surroundings.

Personally, I've started adding gochujang as a thickener and spice to basically every tomato based sauce I make now. Even stews. It's a instant flavor enhancer.

I also make an extremely cursed one-pot """""pasta al burro"""" as a comfort food:
1. cook any "short" (i.e. bowtie, rotini, macaroni, etc.) protein noodles 2 minutes under recommended time (longer pasta will usually break if cooked this shortly, and you need a large pot to make it usually)
2. drain with the lid of the pot, saving a few tbsp of pasta water
3. add a shitton of olive oil, garlic butter, crushed black pepper, and any grated hard cheese
4. mix thoroughly till emulsified
i usually eat this dish with any steamed or raw veggies I have so I don't shit myself after eating a whole pot of it

burritos are uniquely American

bigger sushi rolls, more toppings and sauces. traditional sushi is bland and boring

more meat, less poop. actual Indian food in India is mostly cow dung and lentils with 50% volume in seasoning

I really can't think of any popular "ethnic" food that doesn't have a superior bastardized American version. maybe middle eastern, there is not much to improve upon a good shawarma wrap

Wow you sure opened my eyes to real Japanese cuisine. I totally have never had those in the Japanese neighborhood down the street from me.

Italian dough is a joke. Anyone anywhere can use 00 dough and make a better pizza than Italian slop. Zaatar manakeesh is better than Italian pizza and predates it by thousands of years.

Real Chinese food is literally dog fried in gutter oil, rhino horn dust and monkey brains. Chinese people are so poor it's normalized to eat cats and dogs

Even white people tacos are better than most Mexican dishes but I will admit the true street tacos with pork and pineapple are good.
