Yep, the Chinese invented forks. Then they invented chopsticks and never went back.
Seriously though, chopsticks are better for Asian style pre-cut meals but are unsuitable for many staple western foods, like steaks, schnitzels etc. I prefer forks for deserts too.

Chinese fried rice has added egg which makes it more sticky, Japanese rice is sticky itself. You can take bigger chunks of rice with chopsticks than with a fork if you want.

when i was 18 i was stranded in japan for a month and i learnt how to use them cause i was in the country side and none of the cheap food places have forks if you just force yourself to use them for maybe 3-5 days u will know how to do it and not forget
