They hydrate you while adding other stuff you sweat out. Generally if you have a heavy on physical work job especially on a hot day they work a lot better than water.

electrolyte drinks do assist with rehydration (after excessive exercise, sickness, or binge drinking), but most of them are just sugary drinks with sodium and potassium.

if you want a leccylite drink that's all business you have to ensure it has the 4 primary electrolytes and no fucking sugar. you can't drink much in a day because your sodium and potassium will go off the charts pretty quickly

Sugar helps with hydration. And energy of course. I don't think it's too bad especially if you're doing something physically active.

Just drink coconut water. Anything else is over-engineered goyslop.

I can tell you've never done anything physically demanding in your life. Go outside and run a 5k (if you can) in the heat. You'll sweat a fuckton and be thirsty afterwards.

If you drink water you'll feel better, but you'll probably still be a little light headed because you didn't replenish the salts you lost too. Electrolytes are legit, but if you're not physically active it doesn't matter because you'll get enough salt from food.

electrolytes are just a fancy way of saying minerals. most people are deficient in specific minerals. a well rounded electrolyte drink would benefit everyone. the problem is that most of the drinks sold in stores have little to no mineral content. i'm talking so low that they are nowhere near the minimum dose guidelines, so most are effectively scam products.

Most are just sugar water with a dash of potassium salt added - plus artificial flavor and coloring.

Your body should be telling you if it needs more water or more salt. Most people ignore their body's hydration signals though because of habits. But it's super obvious when you drunk a bunch of water and your body wants salt - you will be craving salty snacks. These are good when you are in that particular state. When you aren't, especially in the "need water" state, these really need to be thinned down to get you the water you need.

The best ones have a tiny amount of sugar (like 4g or less). Just enough to help water absorb, but not so much you pack on the pounds thanks to 200 cal of sugar added.

if you get hangovers you just shouldn't drink. only the hangover-less master race deserves such pleasures.

Yes, if you sweat a lot due to exercise or working outside in the sun. Fatties drink these without doing shit because they saw commercials of athletes drinking them.

You can avoid a hangover by not being a faggot or by just drinking water before passing out

The problem with heatstroke and dehydration is that it is too late to take action once you have experienced symptoms such as a headache.
Drink something frequently before you feel thirsty.
