Are there any pastas that work better with whole wheat noodles? I can't imagine a single instance where I'd want a whole wheat pasta.

i like whole wheat pasta more for anything. i think it just has more flavor and feels more filling. but it's harder to cook properly. package directions usually have it end up gritty and that's why i didn't like it at first. it needs a lot more time to cook properly.

This sentence makes no sense. You might as well ask if there are any Thanksgiving turkeys that work better with barbecued chicken.
If what you meant to say was "dishes that are better with whole wheat pasta/noodles" then maybe. I make bibimmyeon a lot in the summer. I use buckwheat noodles. I could imagine whole wheat might work nicely but I did it once with plain wheat and it was truly awful.
