I've never understood the blue collar meme of eating with dirty hands? I did construction materials testing and I either washed my hands before I ate on site or just ate my food out of foil/sandwich bag. I've experienced both sides of being in an office vs being blue collar. Part of it is access, the common denominator in the jobs you mentioned is that you worked in an established building but when you're working in residential construction and your only amenity is a porta-potty, you just wipe off the dirt and eat. another part of it is probably machismo and earning acceptance which is stupid.

I work for one guy and we never do more than 40 hour weeks and i always go somplace local for lunch. I couldn't stand eating the same cold food every day. But if i worked somewhere else where those things weren't true id get sick of it real fast.

That's pretty sick, I only ever got my lunch paid for on my first day and it was still a deli sandwich lol. I was in a testing office at about 20% staffing capacity so it was always overtime. But I'm in ny so I work at a medical cannabis dispensary. I have a ton of retail experience, was working towards Corporate for Nike and got dicked by downsizing. Gave blue collar a try after retail and said fuck that and went back to retail selling weed in a store

So retail? Thats always seemed boring and at worst annoying having to inevitably deal with mean customers that you cant tell to fuck off.
I like going to different jobs all the times in the trades. Keeps it always somwhat new, so im not at the same place every day working with the same people.
