I used artificially sweetened whey powder to get sweetness and used that to make milkshakes or used it with turkish yoghurt + low carb berries for sweet cravings.

Keto is a waste of time. Just stop eating highly processed food and stick to a balanced diet based on fresh ingredients rather than what's concocted by the food industy. You don't even need to do any extreme physical activity, just moderate like swimming, walking, chores. Trust me. I used to be fat but lost all my excess weight just by learning to cook for myself and not eating the stuff served to me by the food industry. They just want to get you addicted to highly calorific sugary slop that makes them the most profit at the expense of your health.

For e.g.

- Instead of fries, bake a potato with skin on and find recipes that focus on seasoning to make it taste nice rather than covering it with highly calorific processed condiments. That potato can then form about 30-40% of the meal your eating. The rest can be protein and fresh vegetables.

- If you crave something sweet then try to choose fresh fruit with some nuts rather than cheesecakes, ice creams etc.

- Once in a while you might like a treat but don't buy the cookies with preservatives, additives etc. Make your own cookies with a few wholesome ingredients like butter, sugar, nuts. BUT don't eat those cookies every day. Eat them once a week/fortnight whatever. If you start gaining weight then reduce the frequency you eat them until your weight starts to come down.

That's not really true. There are multiple ways in which your body works better with some carb intake. Your muscles storing carbs for energy for example, and those carbs also hold water which helps keep you hydrated. There's a reason common complaints on keto involve dehydration and fatigue.

Keto did help me figure out that I don't digest starch though and it just makes me sick for whatever reason. But if I add sugar back into my diet I only feel better and have less issues.

The point of eating all that fat is because your body is turning to fat as it's primary fuel instead of carbs. That's where your energy is supposed to be coming from.
As for water, that's why you're supposed to be chugging the shit on keto.
The initial period where your body is adapting to being on ketosis all the time leaves you fatigued and dehydrated, sure. But after that, if you're doing it right, you should be fine.
When I did keto to lose weight, I was still going for daily runs and doing weekly hikes with my brother and I never felt out of energy or especially dehydrated. Because I was doing the diet properly and keeping myself topped up with water all the time.

I know how keto works but it's still like under 20g of carbs, or 50g at the most, which is pretty much nothing compared to what your body can burn in a day. I tried eating lots of fat and drinking more water and electrolytes and giving myself time to adapt but it just never felt right. Giving up starch helped a lot but sugar only seems to make me feel better and there's a good bit of evidence supporting that this could just be what works for some people too.

If you feel fine on keto I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong but I still had problems despite consuming a ton of fat and water and electrolytes and all that and it seems like a lot of other people do too.
