Blue raspberry flavor actually has an interesting history from the industrial development of artificial flavors in the early 20th century.
Flavored syrups, for use atop shaved ice or in soda fountains, were originally only in a few flavors and were distinguished by colors. Cherry was developed first so it was already red, then strawberry came out and they made it pink. Watermelon came next, and they made it green like the rind of the fruit.
Then way later in 1958 a new flavor was developed that tasted like raspberry, but all the colors were already taken except for blue (blueberry wasn't made yet), so they decided to market it as "Blue Raspberry" and just made the whole thing up.
