Rice grown in ca is made up of multiple cultivars chosen for drought resistance and heat tolerance, not for taste or texture.
As a result it's a mishmash of various rice types that excels at nothing other than growing abilities in environments not ideal for rice cultivation.
Rice grown in the American south is almost always grown in old cotton fields which produces rice that is as toxic as rice grown in China and shit areas of India/Thailand.
Rice from the south is so bad you couldn't pay me to consume it.
