my roommate bought some from some weird southern specialty store (we're in the northeast) but I haven't tried it yet

It's fucking disgusting like 90% of southern "cuisine". Just slather everything in mayonnaise and dig in.

It's a versatile dish, often enjoyed on crackers, vegetables, sandwiches, or as a condiment. Your roomie used it as a lubricant when he wanted me to fill him in. He told me not to tell anybody (oopsie)

What do you even use this for? Just sandwiches and crackers? Doesn’t seem like it would be good on pizza.

It's alright. It's good heated up as like a cheese dip, or cold and spread on crackers. I can see it being something one would get nostalgic about if you had it as a kid, but it's not mind blowing.

It's better if it's made fresh and not with Sneed oils. Pawleys islands used to be a good brand you could get everywhere but the quality has slipped. From the packaging that looks like it'll be good.

It's great on burgers. Deeply rich creamy texture, and nuanced flavors, to dress up the canvas of ground beef.

I love it. But it's weird by itself, or with something bland like a saltine. It's too strong. Needs a burger to stand with. Ever put a slice of cheese on a burger and barely notice it? But on a cracker or by itself it's good? Pimento is the opposite. It's delicious.

Chikfila's pimento honey sandwich was actually genius.

What's wrong with a store full of stuff that you can't easily get in that region? That's the whole point of a specialty store and they're not unique to New York. Touch grass.

if it's GOOD it's good,, 90% of what you find is NOT good. Just looking at what you got i'm gonna err on the side of "dogshit".

The problem is, and this goes for 99% of southern things, is it's too fucking sweet. It's disugstingly, cloyingly sweet like they made it out of fucking miracle whip.

t. I live in South Carolina where they make this shit.

It ain't just New York. The 'South' has long positioned itself as a sort of brand, implying implications that southern products are more 'rustic' and 'cottage made'. Which is of course, bullshit. But you see this all over America - even in the south itself where they love to huff their own supply. Fuck man, the entire Cracker Barrel franchise exists based on this fiction. Do you not remember those old 'Pace' salsa commercials? I guess that shits old for Gen Z.
