>stainless steel doesn't need maintenance
my ass, maybe i'm overheating it but there's brown stains all over and boiling water with vinegar does jack shit
>Barkeepers friend
other than it being $15 which is like 1/4 of the price of a pan it's also strong chemicals i don't want to expose myself to every 1-3 days to keep this shit clean

It's the same stuff you would call seasoning on a cast iron or carbon steel. If you care about how it looks I think you can use baking soda, or they make ss cleaners for this purpose.

first of all, this is not a lack of maintenance. this is what happens when you don't clean your pan properly for years, I assume. cleaning is not maintenance.
try oven/grill cleaner. cover that shit and scrub it with scotch brite after 15 min

Acids dont work well against polymerized oil, you need barkeepers friend or baking soda.
Also stop heating your pan to 500f holy shit

good advice, i tried baking soda and it did something but not quite enough, probably didnt use enough or didnt wait enough
>Also stop heating your pan to 500f holy shit
i assume it's sides being too hot while bottom is fine since it's mostly onthe sides and when i start tossing food it polymerizes
i just got the pan, still learning how to use it but holy fuck is it better than nonstick shit and saute pans

Brown stains not a big deal for me.

soap and scotch brite pad works along with elbow grease and always using a fresh spot on the pad

It's not from overheating your pan like people are saying. Oil will polymerize at fairly low temperatures. My pan has it on the bottom because I have a glass top electric stove, so the splatter gets on the bottom, then is directly heated by the element.
