What the fuck do I cook with all these lemons? Some of them are the size of my fist. I don't want to make anything loaded with sugar (lemonade, tarts, etc), but I don't want them to go to waste. What would you anons cook that uses up a decent amount of lemons?

Asian people make salted lemons (chanh muoi). Try that. You basically just clean the lemons, slice them and then pack them in a large container with salt and let them sit for a few months. Better than letting them rot, I suppose.

some recipes use just salt, some just sugar, some a mix or even with other flavorings. but Iโ€™d try it if I had a tree. Also lemon curd makes a nice gift and is pretty easy

Where do you live where your lemon tree is doing this well? Do they just grow slowly? I've had mine for a few years, kept indoors except in the height of summer. Maybe it's because I'm in the uk?

The only place I've lived where lemon trees do well is California, and even so you have to shelter them in winter when they're young. If you live in a place which gets significant frost or snow in winter, you'll have a hard time growing any citrus.

I live in a desert where it can get up to 120 degrees freedom. a lemon tree will never grow, or produce much sitting inside in a planter it needs to be in the ground, and protected from freezing in the winter.

if you put it outside and there is a freeze generally you just need to cover it with a clothe sheet. you can prune the tree to keep it small so you can cover it. you just want to keep the plant above about 33 degrees freedom. putting an old incandescent light bulb inside it can do that.

South Australia. I almost got rid of it because it looked half dead when I bought the place 5 years ago, but after some watering and feeding it turned into a monster lemon producing tree.

Specifically limoncello. Although you said you're in Australia, the cost of rectified spirit might not be worth the effort, based on what I've heard about Aus liquor prices.

Nice idea, but in this lawless day & age I'd be way of sending the message that "anon's lemons are free for the taking", that's just inviting trespassers. I'd rather give the extras to family & friends (lol), but only if I thought they might actually use them.

My other suggestion would be trying a lemon-based BBQ/marinade sauce, which would involve sugar of course, but you know that citrus slaps on fish, shellfish, chicken, and pork.

Yeah, itโ€™s basically the same thing, except the Vietnamese people I know just use salt. They add the salty syrup to sodas, a lot, to give it more electrolytes, like Gatorade, I suppose. Not too sure what they do with the flesh. I made my own lemon confit using Brunoโ€™s recipe before. It was kino.

Just thinking about lemons makes my mouth water. I fucking love eating lemons but I rarely do, because they make my teeth hurt and I can't eat anything else for a day because it hurts too much to chew anything. But then my teeth heal and I want to eat more lemons. I slice them up into quarters and chomp down on them, I leave nothing but the skin. Lemons are so good but they shouldn't hurt so much.

There must be a way to make sour things that don't destroy your teeth.

If you like sour candy/snacks then lemon chips are amazing. Just cut them into relatively thin slices, then bake them directly on the rack at low heat until they become slightly crispy. They also keep very well so it's a good way to make use of all the extra lemons that you'd have thrown out otherwise
