Those packs of pre cooked/shelled mussels are great for soups or just with butter and garlic.

Nigga, they're $1.50/lb for live organic motherfuckers. Of course I thank mussels. We were gonna buy some Saturday morning but I had a medical emergency Friday night and wound up admitted to hospital overnight but we're getting some Wednesday evening instead.

I've never cooked in-the-shell scallops. I like them, though mussels are more satisfying to eat.

I see them often but always with they'd taste like shit like other frozen, cooked seafood I've gotten.

If you think they are expensive then you must be a Europoor. Scallops are dirt cheap.

They're not mussels. The only place in the world that has mussels is Brittany, France. Other "mussels" are actually different species altogether which taste nothing like a mussel.
