What do olives really add to Mexican food, anyway?

Basically, all Mexican food tastes the same so they need to put some Italian in there for variety.

Avoid Mexican food and just eat meats, seafood, cheese/dairy.

They add flavor. I like black olives. They are really good on subs, pizza, enchiladas, or salads.

I couldn't imagine having a honey mustard turkey sub on 5-grain wheat without black olives and banana peppers.

Olives are completely inedible unless they're properly cured. Even then their exposure to the sun is far more important than the colour of their skin (or their variety).

Some of it is good, but most isn’t. I’ve been to Mexico. What they eat there and what is served in U.S. Mexican restaurants is often much different.
As for why I like to rail on their food, it’s because I don’t support their businesses. When I do eat out, I try to go to a white owned and operated business
