>low cal
Izzit? I'd've assumed it was high calorie. I've not had any in a while but I'm from Naples so my mum always made them alla sorrentina IE basically gnocchi lasagne. How do you like'em? Have you tried other potato pasta or dumplings?

I've been eating raos for a while and, I decided to look for low cal stuff and it's like 800 cal for a box of this, raos is like 1700 for the same amont of normal pasta

Oh, that's because gnocchi are basically a fresh pasta IE they don't take on much water when they cook. 75g of dry pasta is about equal to 125g of potato gnocchi. Both will be roughly 150g after boiling.

That's neat.
Despite being from Naples, my dad's Asian-American so if we ate American beef stew growing up, it was always with rice. They eat it with cornbread in America, yeah? Italian beef stew is usually had with polenta or on its own if it's got enough potato in it.
Ever have it with cream? Simple enough dish, just gnocchi and cooking cream. In America, you can use that Mexican stuff, crema entera/media crema. Comes in little 200ml or so cartons at Mexican stores. Tastes pretty similar to ours. Some people add a blue cheese like gorgonzola to the cream to give it some funk but the dish is a bit divisive that way.

More water weight. Dry pasta has much less. Gnocchi are 50-60% water by weight. Dry pasta is less than 12.5%.
Since water has no calories and half of the gnocchi are water, it makes sense that they'd have fewer calories.

Some places probably. I bet most Americans would want mashed potatoes with it.

Why do you think cucumbers, which are 99,9999999999999% water, are so low cal? It's only got 12 per 100g
Or why the same weight of dried anything vs fresh (apricots, grapes/raisins, plums/prunes, tomatoes, beef/jerky etc) is so much higher?

You shouldn't wait for water to boil, do some other prep instead.
