What dishes would you recommend for a single man in his 30's, who never learned how to cook, and has no prospects or hopes for a better life?

No fancy ingredients, I'm not rich.
Please dont suggest vegetables either, I'm not into vegetables.

I'm thinking something to do with pasta would be good.

Unless youโ€™re doing a recipe or baking cooking is easy. Start with steak eggs and potatoes. And easy dish you can make as complex as your like it. Simple and hard to fuck up unless your heat is too high, and if you do fuck up itโ€™s still edible and youโ€™ll learn something for next time.

Most people don't waste time learning skills they'll seldom use. The only reason I'm being forced to now is poverty.

Are you skilled at darning socks or do you just buy new socks when the old ones have holes in them?

Try chicken breast since itโ€™s more uniform and boneless. Or roast a whole chicken. If you over cook it and it comes out a little dry feom over cooking no big deal.

The socks I buy have a lifetime warranty. If they wear out for any reason the company will replace them for free, forever. If the dog eats them and shits them out they'll replace them. It's a shit comparison anyway because people don't buy socks every day, or even close. But they do eat every day. Cooking is a skill that everyone needs, like driving, and if you didn't learn how it means your parents failed you.

Pasta is a good starting place, then look for recipes that add meat to pasta and then add vegetables too same with cheese.

Nvm your obviously a failure. Cut raw chicken in half length wise and at least season with salt, pepper and garlic. Paprika will help with color too. Modern chicken is breed to have big breasts which do not cook even and leave it dry.

This is why no one bothers with cooking. It will set you back in life, diverting your time and resources from more productive activities.

most of this shit you should already have in your kitchen. If you have to buy salt and pepper for a recipe you need to go back further to figure out where you fucked up. I made this recipe and I made it for probably a third of that because my spice cabinet stays full and I've always got chicken on hand because it's easy to prepare and goes with everything.

You don't have to have fresh herbs and shit. Basil from the little $1 jar is fine. You're not defusing a bomb, you're making something to eat. Use your head a little.

I subscribe to the Asmongold school of cooking - I factor in ease of cooking and ease of cleanup to anything I make. The highest on that list in my opinion is probably pasta with meat sauce. It requires one pan to brown some ground beef and heat up the jar of spaghetti sauce, and one pot with a lid for boiling the pasta which you can also eat out of after straining the water out using the lid.
