Foie gras is delicious.

Expensive wine is worthwhile.
Especially a nice bottle of D'yquem with some foie gras, yeah. Delicious.
Maybe a bottle of cristal with some osetra and kumamoto oysters. Delicious.

Feel sorry for the people that are missing out on these luxuries.

Some expensive wines scoring less than a $5 bottle in a blind tasting doesn't prove there aren't quality grades of wine, only that some low quality wine is sold for outrageous prices by what are essentially scammers taking advantage of people with more money than sense.

As someone who has consumed a lot of champagne and other French sparkling wines, I can assure you that there really is a meaningful difference between the cheap stuff and the expensive stuff.

While there is a point of diminishing returns, you don't get to that until around the $100 price point for champagne and at least $50 for sparkling wines from other regions.

Not anymore.

China has become the world's top producer of caviar, surpassing traditional producers like Russia and Iran. Chinese companies have achieved this through advancements in sturgeon farming technology and by focusing on both domestic and international markets. While China's caviar industry has grown rapidly, it has also faced some challenges, including tariffs and regulatory hurdles for exports.

Haven't had much any of the crazy high-quality baluga stuff but salmon caviar is fucking delicious atop creme fraiche and served on a neutral butter cracker. It's not the priciest thing, you can order a couple small jars of it for a reasonable price and snack on it over a few days. Ordering the caviar is as great excuse to make creme fraiche if you don't have any so it's a win-win.

In fact, Gen A and B will grow up in America that is no longer at the top.

However that is the point, the Chinese removed many luxury things. Chinese cars are taking over the ev market and now will take over the luxury market too. Just like they did for high end smart phones.

I wouldn't trust Chinese caviar like I don't trust chinese shrimp or "basa" or any other kind of fish. If it was farmed in the Mekong, the most polluted river ever, then nope.
But American lobster is just fine. Half of the lobster coming into the port in Yarmouth, ME is bought up immediately from S. Korea. Buyers sitting right there on his phone getting bids and taking it all on the spot before it's even packed for shipping. I'd be surprised if there was any left for the Americans or anyone else in the world. They have $$$$

50€ is enough to make a very fine wine
100€ gets you some rarer, specialty or vintages ones
everything beyond is rarely (not never, just very very rarely) an improvement
and why spend more if get a similar experience?

and if you look it at common (blinded) wine rankings that don't care about price
most top picks will be in the 50-100€ range as well
which again, is also my personal experience

Not all expensive wines are worth it but some are. Applies to most of the other stuff in this thread. Some people will just buy things because they are expensive but they have no tastebuds to discern what is good and what isn't, and will often willingly walk into a scam. Champaign isn't good, it's just the only sparking white people know, and none of the others are particularly good either.

Fois gras doesn't actually taste of anything and is just a brick of fat. Salo, uigher lamb ass, similar dishes are all foul.

This stuff is slowly taking over the ramen section at my international stores and I still haven't tried it because it just looks like a meme.
Shin gold gets my vote, personally.

Never quite saw the appeal of steak.
>You just haven't had good steak
Yes I have. It's okay, but it's still better when it's with something else, like potatoes or noodles. IMO ribs or chicken are better as a "just meat" dish.

Tartare.
I had a platter of steak and tuna tartare and it was... okay
I'd much rather have them cooked, please :(

that's probably a more useful preparation, but also a massive waste considering how much fat ends up getting rendered out, even for cheap wagyu.

but now that wagyu is back up in price and isn't as readily available, i'd say prime short rib would be be better for your purposes.

I like it but not as a casual snack. I always make an effort to cut up some green onions, mushrooms, fry up some bacon and have a hard boiled egg for buldak and some mung beans or tofu or whatever ramen topping I can get (I add extra hot sauce so it doesn't get too mild)
Shin Ramyun and lesser brands are snack tier though, where I'm fine with just boiling the noodles with maybe some green onions added and that's good enough.

That is to say, I like Buldak, and I put in effort to draw out the goodness. With Shin, I'm fine with the base product, it doesn't shine as much even if I put in more effort. Well, the gold variant is kinda ramen tier too, but it's a tad mild so I don't eat it often.

The value of high priced wine caps out pretty quick. There's a huge market of billionaires who tell their staff to "just get the best" and this means that marginally better wine has much higher demand than almost as good wine, so the price of the technically very best is inflated because $10,000 is nothing to billionaires.
You're going to want to do like $150-500 for good wine.

I've worked wine serving and management, got my degree in beverage, worked state wine events, highest rate was $71/hr, gotten invited out to freezing private cellars of rich old people, got to sample 250 dollar wines etc. My personal opinion is the 30-50 dollar price tag is the sweet spot, since that's where wineries notice they have a good product worth demanding more money but before they start wanking themselves off and charging 800 dollars for something the average retard is going to keep in their cellar for decades while it turns into vinegar

I work with some wine cellars in CA and this is spot on. 60 is the absolute max you should spend on a bottle anything more is just for rich people flexing

Absolutely retarded over generalization.

Saying tokaji essencia isn't worth the high price tag. You are both lying faggots or know nothing posers.

Not saying it's bad, haven't tried it. Personally I'm going to have to go fondle some royal tokaji bottles in 6 hours for other people to enjoy. I have had multiple wines in the same lineup at extremely different price points and found the middle ground preferable over the multihundred dollar one though. At a certain point some palates are either unable to discern what warrants the price or are just engineered to prefer different things. Enjoy what you like to drink as anon said.
