You'll never know until you try, but I think it's very complicated. This is a pretty slow thread already, and it's only one click away on the thread watcher, I don't think moving to a different site would make it faster.

Being able to post nsfw might make things more interesting, but it might also make everything much more of a pain in the ass to you. For the last two years, every single time someone shilled on /g/ the ultimate altchan that had just been created, I went there and posted a single porn pic of Tails, every single one of them got deleted, even in the ones that claimed not to have any censorship besides "illegal content."
Sadly I learned that other than autistic fursecution, many people did it because cub porn is too much of a gray area and everyone is too scared to have their site nuked or worse because some idiot can't tell drawings and people apart. To make things worse, the only altchan I knew that allowed cub porn ended up removing most of its boards a few weeks ago, because the lack of moderation had slowly turned it into a forum to discuss illegal shit and the admin panicked.

I don't really participate in other communities, I simply used to follow some artists on Twitter and liked their pics. Some time ago I was posting kemoshos on another board and some anon told me about /cm/, which I had never visited before, I'd say this has been my main kemono "community" ever since.
Other than the sometimes overzealous removal of risque pics, I think it's a pretty nice general. We don't have much discussion, but sometimes you get some chat about a kemono game, or a recommendation for a manga, and I often learn about a new artist I didn't know before, those are pretty much the things I enjoy here.
I think my ideal board would be one with a big general like this one, plus secondary threads (fetish stuff, AI content, I don't know). So, much like this board has several spinoffs to the shota general, albeit more kemono focused and more nsfw-friendly.

If you want an alternative, I've also seen Disk Drill getting recommended quite often, although I have never used it myself.

Whatever program you use, your files can't be recovered if they've been overwritten already, these things are only really effective if you use them immediately after you delete something. Don't save a single more file to the disk with your lost pics until you've used these programs to recover everything you can, and don't recover the files to that disk, because they can overwrite themselves and get corrupted. Any paid program that promises that it can recover "more" files if you pay is 100% a scam.

Finally, Recuva allows you to export a list of all the files it found, it's very likely that even if your files are damaged or completely lost, your disk still has all the filenames stored because the file table is rarely cleaned, so remember to export that list. Even if you can't recover the files themselves, maybe you'll be able to remake your folder manually, Pixiv, Twitter or even e621 filenames should be easy to redownload.

thanks fren, i tried recuva but didn't really have luck, maybe because the drive is currently not partitioned due to what happened, but disk drill seems to be able to do the job without hostaging me for money after doing the whole hours long scan. it says i should recover to a different location, though, so i'll just see about getting another external hard drive to take the data from this one and then i can just repartition and reformat the original drive. while only losing a small portion of the data that was actually overwritten. also it's too bad you got your image perms removed, that sucks. i wonder if that happening to people is why this thread has died so hard

EaseUS seemed to recover more files than Recuva a few eternities ago when I still used windows actively enough to need it.
If any of your lost pixiv files are no longer on pixiv, I may have them as long as you know the user or the artwork ID.
