You'll never know until you try, but I think it's very complicated. This is a pretty slow thread already, and it's only one click away on the thread watcher, I don't think moving to a different site would make it faster.
Being able to post nsfw might make things more interesting, but it might also make everything much more of a pain in the ass to you. For the last two years, every single time someone shilled on /g/ the ultimate altchan that had just been created, I went there and posted a single porn pic of Tails, every single one of them got deleted, even in the ones that claimed not to have any censorship besides "illegal content."
Sadly I learned that other than autistic fursecution, many people did it because cub porn is too much of a gray area and everyone is too scared to have their site nuked or worse because some idiot can't tell drawings and people apart. To make things worse, the only altchan I knew that allowed cub porn ended up removing most of its boards a few weeks ago, because the lack of moderation had slowly turned it into a forum to discuss illegal shit and the admin panicked.
I don't really participate in other communities, I simply used to follow some artists on Twitter and liked their pics. Some time ago I was posting kemoshos on another board and some anon told me about /cm/, which I had never visited before, I'd say this has been my main kemono "community" ever since.
Other than the sometimes overzealous removal of risque pics, I think it's a pretty nice general. We don't have much discussion, but sometimes you get some chat about a kemono game, or a recommendation for a manga, and I often learn about a new artist I didn't know before, those are pretty much the things I enjoy here.
I think my ideal board would be one with a big general like this one, plus secondary threads (fetish stuff, AI content, I don't know). So, much like this board has several spinoffs to the shota general, albeit more kemono focused and more nsfw-friendly.
