In fact, in real life he was ordered executed for his treachery, fled, and died of starvation because no one wanted to help him. Someone who raped Kunitoki would have been seen as similarly villainous.
Also, the Ashikaga, who were the notorious boy lovers, weren't even at Kamakura aside from the symbolic presence of Takauji's three year old son. It was captured by papa Nitta.
