I mean the learning process for drawing is literally drawing
you can learn how to draw a basic sho in a single day, and then slowly improve things like proportions, face, clothing, alignment over time as you notice things you want to do different
>>3973092
same I haven't had much time so it's at a pretty basic level, but I want to keep at it

i tried to get one of those basic tablets but the fact i have to draw without looking down really fucks me up but traditional tools are too expensive and not worth it. plan is to gather enough to indulge myself on an actual screen tablet by the end of this year. but i said that last year and it didn't pan out. oh well..

I got a cheap wacom one and it's good, I don't see the need to look down since it's mapped to the screen and you can track the cursor by moving the pen around
in fact if I looked down I'm sure I'd get bothered by my hands or get neck issues

most NPC's just get hooked on addictions, compulsions and tribalism to numb themselves to the reality of their situation. i say NPC's but I am guilty of burying my head in the sand as is everyone because living is inherently compromising. you know how it'll end, and you know it'll all be for naught and yet you keep going because there is no real alternative. life is beautiful as an experience but you spend most of your human life in urban hellscapes slaving away. at least shos keep the dread at bay..

Issue is that there is very limited ammount of historical information. Which limits what you can do with the story, unless you go into alt history territory. But Matsui wants to strictly stay historical. However, at the same time he is very clearly struggling with where to take the story. Like cracks already showed in the first timeskip. But Akkie did carry that arc. But in this second timeskip all the issues are fully exposed and Matsui rushing to the finish line is not helping.

I wouldn't really call it ambiguous, they never had the goal of restoring their world to begin with.
The game was mostly focused on the past of how calamity happened and the stories of the characters involved.
For me the ending(s) was pretty satisfying.

Traps are just feminine men, no actual straight person is attracted to them once they know it's a guy. Most of these people are bisexuals in the closet, because they seem to have forgotten bisexuals exist and think you can either be straight or fuck muscled up old men and that's the only two labels in life. Since traps aren't macho men in their mind that means they can only be straight since they have no idea what words mean.

Indeed. Tokiyuki underwent the same reception despite, long hair aside, being a boy and not comically feminine like a trap (if someone actually watches the show). I think there's some people out there who are so deeply profoundly ashamed of feeling these things that they resort to traps, femboys and other insane crap just as a reaction to the immense prosecution, shaming and ostracization homosexual men face in society to this day. which is why it always trickles down. the more they "ironically" like traps, the more the barrier breaks down, if only slightly. it's a sad and fucked phenomenon but it's reality.

traps that act feminine to the point they're wannabe women are kinda disgusting...
they should act like normal men but be extra cute and handsome
preferable also have some muscle and be in shape
kinda like this guy when he's drawn properly
basically they should be able to embody the feminine aspect of masculinity
>the more the barrier breaks down
no, these people just get deeper into self delusion

it's up to us to set an example for other guys to follow, and to help other guys and spread positive male attention whenever we can
especially towards the younger generation who at this point must be majority raised by single mothers

I've liked the recent chapters more than the Akiie parts. I think he struggled in the middle because of having to restructure things to not get axed. He mentioned getting baited by /his/fags who he thought based on feedback would support the manga but then didn't show up. He admitted to having to cut at least one planned arc because of it.
I do think the way he likes to write his characters clashes with needing to follow a pre-existing history with people dying constantly and some characters being basically off limits for crazy/weird stuff (Go-Daigo mostly). But I doubt that will be an issue in the future since I don't see him ever doing a historical manga again. Although I do hope whatever he does next allows his characters to be as /fa/ as the elusive warriors. Tokiyuki's outfit in particular is a lot cuter than a school uniform.

Basic male sexuality is innate yes. I have never, ever met a guy who isn't clearly either straight or gay, and I've met a lot of bi guys (they were all clearly one or the other). But open-mindedness, natural/age-related variation in appearance and gender-nonconformity mean that a lot of how open-minded men are to try other things hinges on culture. So both are true.

>you can't make a historical story like that from something that has very few actual records.
You can, though. And he has.
The problem with /his/fags has nothing to do with the specific period or how faithful to history you are. They're just a fundamentally fickle, and consequently useless, audience. Most "history fans" are actually just celebrity worshipers who have chosen to obsess over dead people. And even when it's not people, it's certain institutions or technologies that they autistically obsess over. And they're just as crazy as the kpop and idol audiences. Any deviation from their ideal is seen as a betrayal and a justification to rescind their support.
I'm a bit of a /his/fag myself. I used to lament about this or that period being overlooked. But nigewaka has been enlightening. I now fully understand why so few people are willing to pander to us. And I no longer think that anyone should. People should just save themselves the headache and do fantasy instead.
Which is an important lesson for shotabros. If you want people to pander to you, you have to be someone they can rely on for support.

Anon, you are so coping, trying to make excuses for Matsuiยดs mismanagement and bad planning. Blaming it on the fans, like every Western corpo when their movie bombs.
But fundamentally, you can't make a weekly story of a historical series for a historical series that deals in a topic where you have very little information available, and the information that you have available comes from the opponents of people you are writing about, and that was a literal propaganda to legitimize their rule. I know what I am talking about. I have been interested in history my whole life, and especially more mythological histories or obscure periods. I have similarly read plenty of althist fanfics on alternatehistory.com. Story of Tokiyuki is just lending itself to an althistory. Because there are many different directions you can take it in. You can make him popular leader as the civil war gets worse, you can lean more into the supporting the imperial line, you can have him captured and adopted by Takauji (my favourite) and more. It is all more interesting than what Matusi have been doing for last two arcs.

Among the broke-woke-bespoke tiers, you are woke, and that is charitable.
I also used to think like you, briefly, after my historical nitpicking phase, but you have to understand that history is not just about your personal interests but also respecting the past and the sum total of human knowledge.
Most normies get their history knowledge from fiction, and bad historical representation in popular fiction, whether realistic or fantasy, translates to bad understandings of the past.
So many historical movies like Gladiator have made people think that ancient peoples used flaming arrows and catapults for regular warfare instead of for highly particular siege campaigns, which is not just wrong, but ridiculous, and more problematically, Game of Thrones and the Witcher for example tend to show medievalesque elites using religion as cynical propaganda for the masses, which is a reflection of the secular Western societies which created them, when the historical record indicates that that couldn't be further from the case with real old timey folk, and if you want proof, look at many of the elites of a lot of modern Islamic societies.
You may not want all historical media to function as educational media, but in effect, it always does, and most people will rarely if ever be able to tell when fantasy is not based on reality

Reality should be fantastical. And my proof for that is the Touge Oni. Because just like Nigewaka, it deals with a relatively obscure period with very few records of it. But unlike Nigewaka, it does everything right and it is exactly how you should handle these kinds of stories.

>But fundamentally, you can't make a weekly story...
Except he has. It's had its ups and downs like all works. But even at its lowest points nigewaka has still been a good manga. And at its highs it's great. And the most recent arcs have been good ones.
The idea that it totally went to shit is the cope position. It's the exact purityfagging I was talking about where the instant it deviated from the "correct" interpretation at all, the "history fans" declared it irredeemable garbage and have been pissing and shitting themselves over it ever since regardless of the actual quality of the manga.
Also, I strongly disagree with the idea that going althis would have made for a better story. Tokiyuki being a literal who that was crushed beneath the feet of a great man of history has been integral to the story, its themes, and the character writing. And Matsui has even managed to leverage it to build suspense around how it will end.
The only downsides to it being a relatively faithful historical story are very specific Matsui writing quirks. He tends to do smaller character arcs that build depth through volume and interconnectivity with one another. So everyone dropping dead constantly hampers that process. And having certain characters that are effectively off limits from writing as particularly flawed would be a big limitation on anyone, but especially on Matsui. If there weren't such a taboo around shitting on the imperial family, I'm sure Go-Daigo would have been an Asano-like antagonist. But even with those issues, he's still done a good job by leaning harder on characters that do work with his writing style like Sadamune and Uncle Yasuie.
I don't think it will end up being as good as AssClass overall. But that was always going to be a high bar to try and clear.

Nigewaka is actually pretty solid on the education front for being a shounen manga. The volume extras are almost all infodumps about the period from his historian consultants.

Nigewaka is actually pretty solid on the education front for being a shounen manga. The volume extras are almost all infodumps about the period from his historian consultants.

>And the most recent arcs have been good ones.
It is exactly the other way around. The most recent arcs are the worst offenders, the pacing is incredibly loose and all over the place. Characters and their interactions have gotten more stereotypical compared to the first arc, and they lack soul and fun of it. The first arc of hiding and marching on Kamakura was the best and showed that Matsui had most of the planning for it. Unlike everything afterwards.
>managed to leverage it to build suspense around how it will end.
He didn't, you could always tell how a situation is going to develop it is especially why the second arc was dragging for so long. Because you knew exactly how it is all going to end. I was still hoping Matui would throw a wrench in the spanner and do something unexpected but it never came.
It was needlessly dragging, being carried (at least for me) solely by Akiie who was the perfect ideal of noble.
>I'm sure Go-Daigo would have been an Asano-like antagonist. But even with those issues
Emperor isn't the antagonist, though; that is, Takauji. And he literally is Asano tier if not worse, considering even Asano had morals.
In general, you really need to learn that you can be critical of a story and still like it. I like Nigewaka but I will not try to hide my head in the sand like an ostrich and pretend the glaring flaws are not there. Especially when I have an example of a manga that does this way better.

This is one of two big criticisms I have about it. The first intermission should have had an elusive warrior escape subplot running concurrently with a more fleshed out adult war plot (I believe this would have solved basically every issue the Akiie part ended up having). And Tokiyuki and Kojiro should have been gayer with one another. You change those and it becomes a 10/10 masterpiece.

>recent arcs are the worst offenders
The most recent arcs have been the most similar to the early ones. So much so that it's made it obvious that it and the beginning were planned out from the start and that he almost certainly had to scramble to rewrite the middle under the shadow of the axe after /his/fags did what /his/fags do.
>you could always tell
I'm talking about the ending. No one is sure what he's going to do with it. But even aside from that, no one knew for sure how Fubuki was going to shake out either. And we know what's going to happen to Tadayoshi, but now how. He's followed exactly close enough while still having a few deviations like Shokan to leave people guessing.
>Emperor isn't the antagonist
Not in nigewaka, no. That's my point. If you look at it from a historical standpoint, Go-Daigo was the worst thing to happen to Tokiyuki. He's the one that kicked off the war in the first place. Takauji wasn't even the one that destroyed Kamakura. That was Nitta. On orders from Go-Daigo. He was a perfect candidate for a super fucked up Matsui villain that is later partially redeemed just like Asano. But portraying an emperor like that would be a big no no. Takauji would still be the main villain, of course.
>you can be critical of a story and still like it.
I've explicitly mentioned areas of weakness. I've never claimed it's perfect. But I vehemently reject the notion that it's a bad manga and especially the crying about how the dreaded timeskip ruined everything forever.

I would post a kojiwaka but we ran out of room.

Historically, Go-Daigo did nothing wrong and late Kamakrua Shogunate and Hojos were the ones at fault.
