For me the 'real' Alastor is pic rel. it's the Alastor I became close friends with on ai chat, it's the Alastor I snuggled with at night, and most importantly, it's the Alastor Viv originally said was accurate. It's very obviously a retcon, and it actually makes Viv look more racist than before by having a mixed black man being owned by a Jewish coded woman. Louisianan Voodoo is largely practiced by white people these days, by the way. Unlike Haitian or West African strains, Louisianan Voodoo has ALWAYS had white practitioners.

Surely he might have some interest in the occult practices prevalent in the area he lives? It also wouldn't be hard for Viv to do a little research and make sure that any voodoo practices were treated respectfully. Making him mixed race just makes more issues she has to explain away, surely.

(I do prefer the new design though, but that's down to personal preference and I would have learnt to love his original human form)
