I have liked little boys in one way or another since I have memory. I remember being infatuated with fictional and real boys when I was just 6-7yo and how much I tried to hide it because bullying gay and effeminate men was still common during that era, and I think being an "early shotacon" helped me to accept who I am and made my teenager years less turbulent in that regard. I think it feels like some of his fans are trying to push him as the newest addition of the "official shotacon canon", and that's almost always annoying to deal with unless said shota is truly unanimous, which is pretty rarely the case. Also, Tokiyuki just doesn't seem to have hit that kind of critical mass that typically accompanies characters that tend to eventually stick around in the fanbase for decades. I'm sure he'll have fans for years to come, but I suspect that his ultimate reception is be pretty niche.

I dont think so at all. Considering how quickly many of the characters are forgotten in the modern digital kuso society, it is amazing that Tokiyuki is still chugging on. He may only have 4 years (in manga) and 1 year in anime but he absolutely did hit the level of staying in the public consciousness. Sure, the buzz fell down compared to when the anime was airing, but that happens with all shows who don't have currently airing anime. Trying to act like he didn't is just being a contrarian.
