Yes, but it's not like Nintendo couldn't retcon that or write a story where Ganondorf gets tired of being the eternal loser and uses his magic to separate himself from his evil/Demise side, helping the new Link to deal with it so the curse can be broken forever (or that at least Ganondorf can finally rest in peace).
In fact, this is exactly what I would think it would happen in BotW when the game came out and saw the mysterious tall man that knew a lot about what happened 100 years ago and helps link during the tutorial portion of the game (the guy who later turns out to be the king of Hyrule).

It being a bad game is the justification for why nintendo doesn't make normal zelda games anymore. And it having a bad story while being first chronologically has more negative ramifications than just the demise stuff. Zelda would be better off if skyward sword was mindwiped from existence.

I haven't played it since I was a kid but I somewhat remember it being there first dabbling with fast traveling, which I did not like, I think OOT had it right, the world felt like the world because you had to run everywhere, no fast traveling. Who knows though, maybe I'm misremembering.
