I started very skeptical of this book and it’s won me over more with each issue aside from that first filler issue in arc 1. Really liking the dense layouts and the art, but also the reinvented aspects as well so far. Bane seems to be the least drastic departure, he retains his intellect and tactician skills from what we’ve seen so far. The horror aspect of this book works well IMO, because the antagonists are so monolithic and it’s just frugal middle class Batman and his friends trying to go up against them. My only critique really is that these absolute books would be better with an extra 5-10 pages per issue. AB in particular feels decompressed in spite of the dense layouts and heavy panel counts. Absolute MM fares a bit better being semi self contained issues but id be willing to pay a premium for longer issues on a monthly basis.

I feel like Absolute Batman's working-class shtick is interesting, because there are parts that stick with that vibe and others that don't.

I really don't know how Bruce is going to make a dent in this whole conspiracy. It feels too big even for him and that's kind of what I like.
