It looks campy as hell, as if Gunn decided to do the opposite of Snyder's Man of Steel, but with the same poor quality. And it has too many characters, it should've been named Superman & His Friends. Superman hasn't been popular for over 30 years now. Even his most likable non-comic stuff, such as STAS and Smallville, weren't as popular as anything related to Batman, Spider-Man, the X-Men, or the Avengers.
Honestly, DC (and Warner Bros.) should have focused on building their DCU around The Batman, The Suicide Squad, and perhaps the first Joker movie. The Penguin and Peacemaker shows were good steps in the right direction. It's just unfortunate that it now looks like there won't be any sequels to The Batman or The Suicide Squad. People will look for any excuse to like superheroes again. People liked Marvel, despite it's early movies being meh, for the gimmicks. Now the gimmicks are old and people don't care.
