People complain about everything. I remember when anons complained about the phase 1 of the MCU all being janky, cheap looking and shit. And now many of them act like phase 1-3 was the best thing ever that got shit post Endgame. People change narratives all the time.

People moan and people respond to people moaning. Because otherwise it is just bland praise which goes no where. Moaning makes conversation. So all you get here is complaint. Until it comes out and then the narrative will stay the same or rapidly change.

Because it looks terrible and doesn't capture the comic book magic that Donner's movies did. It looks campy as hell, as if Gunn decided to do the opposite of Snyder's Man of Steel, but with the same poor quality. And it has too many characters, it should've been named Superman & His Friends. Honestly, I have no idea why Gunn decided to introduce so many heroes in the first DCU movie. Does he not know how to make solo superhero movies?
Oh, and the actor just doesn't look like Superman at all! Christopher Reeve will always be the definitive Superman. The new guy just doesn't have that same charisma.

Superman hasn't been popular for over 30 years now. Even his most likable non-comic stuff, such as STAS and Smallville, weren't as popular as anything related to Batman, Spider-Man, the X-Men, or the Avengers.
Honestly, DC (and Warner Bros.) should have focused on building their DCU around The Batman, The Suicide Squad, and perhaps the first Joker movie. The Penguin and Peacemaker shows were good steps in the right direction. It's just unfortunate that it now looks like there won't be any sequels to The Batman or The Suicide Squad. People just don't care about Superman, Green Lantern, or Hawkgirl. Building your cinematic universe around characters that most people don't give a shit about just doesn't work anymore.

I think Gunn has good ideas for the implementation of the DC franchise, but he's not a good choice to direct Superman, which requires more naive goodwill than what he likes to put in his films. Normal people are apathetic and only care when shit is viral for a variety of reasons. Superhero movies aren't dead, Deadpool and Wolverine made over a billion. People will look for any excuse to like superheroes again. People liked Marvel, despite it's early movies being meh, for the gimmicks. Now the gimmicks are old and people don't care.

Ultimately the cinema is dead anyway because streaming has cheapened entertainment so much. And superheroes were keeping it going by being event theme park cinema.
