It is sadly a fact that there are more anime shows in a single season than american companies as a whole put out in a year. Even if most of them are slop, the sheer volume of new material ensures that there are 1-3 new shows every season worth watching and thats more than can be said for cartoons.
Like, whats the last recent cartoon people actually considered good? Some indie youtube project like Digital Circus? Because most of what /co/ talks about on a regular basis is ANCIENT.

I blame Jamie Hewlett but I'll always value a distinct "ugly" style over a safe cute one. When done right it's insanely charming and sticks in your mind. No, that doesn't mean ugly = good and cute = bad 100% of the time. It's not so black and white.
By the way, the "safe cute" label can apply to beanmouth shit too, not just moeslop anime.
