This is weird and confusing but in a kinda good way
Also, I'll support anything that keeps stop motion alive.

They really need to stop letting women write comedy. How large do they think the demographic will be for this slop?

They're probably hoping people will gravitate to this like Shivering truth

I was wondering what happened to this. It was a personal highlight of the preview night they did last year. It scratches the same "rambling stories" itch that Shivering Truth did.

I never got to see the pilot
So it's an anthology series?
Is it funny?

No thanks Anon.

It's an actual food from Peru, but don't worry too much they have farms there and they're bred there like farm animals.
I don't have the courage to try it though. They're like giant hamsters and I can't do it.

Peruvian food is delicious otherwise and cuy probably tastes good but I just don't want to eat rodent. If grown on a farm I'm sure it's clean, but I mentally associate rodents with disease, and also guinea pigs as pets we had in kindergarten.

>Make stop motion show
>Don't actually take advantage of the medium and instead make something that could easily be a regular Family Guy toon boom show or even live action
Why do they do this?
Is it just to waste budget?

In the pilot, it was a telenovela parody. The roster of characters was very tight, though, and the story jumped through time quite a bit, so I think it's leaning towards an anthology of stories about whatever people cross paths with the main bitchy woman. I laughed, but all of the humor was from the woman being awful, so its going to come down to how well they can keep that fresh.

By making something fantastical?
Think of the great achievements of stop motion. Skeletons reanimated to fight, mythical monsters and bronze colossi, dinosaurs, an expressionist world of Halloween with incredibly creative designs, children's tales reimagined through cartoonish and endearing designs, gigantic war machines marching to crush a rebellion, epic tales of heroes fighting monsters, miniature sets and camera work that can only be possible thanks to the control one can have over them due to their size and build structure.
And on top of that, today we have technology like 3D printing available to almost everyone, so creating props, characters and dioramas is easier than ever.
Instead they make something incredibly mundane, unimaginative and boring. Doesn't even dare to break the mold with its cinematography.
It's a waste of space and materials to make this stop motion.

I want to like this because I like stop motion but that clip didn't really have any jokes or anything interesting happening. The closest thing to a joke was the directer being sort of a bitch.

I was under the impression that that one only got two seasons because it was a PFFFR show. I miss that show. I have never met anyone else who watched it. That one had a surreal dream like feeling that this one is lacking.

There's a news article every couple weeks in which a boomer journalist is baffled that zoomers only watch shows with available subtitles.

I don't get why Xavier couldn't go on longer. It was like a avant-garde Looney tunes where they could do any joke and take the character anywhere. Heart she got one extra season though, despite being boring, and live action which was a bad choice for their humor style unless its children saying obscene things.

Yeah, it also knew how to use animated absurdity though. The contrast created by the sudden switch from more cartoony adventures in season one to more grounded drama was a bit part of why it worked.
