The 80's had popular franchises that are relevant to this day like Transformers, He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats and many more. The 2010's had like two good shows and bunch of bad reboots of shows from the 90's and 00's like Ben 10 and the PPG.

There's no denying that there were some bad shows in the 80's, but at the same time >>148988828
Also, despite the crap, there were at least some good shows to watch from that decade.

By comparison, the 2010's seem worse especially with all the 2D puppet rigs, beanmouth art styles, and virtue signaling that's more overt than prior decades flooding the airwaves. Also, several 2010's shows like Steven Universe, Netflix Castlevania, Big Mouth, Clarence, Craig of the Creek, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Gravity Falls, and are all massive turnoffs in some way (ugly art styles that lacks the charm of earlier shows, ham-fisted attempts at pandering to specific groups).

Has anyone ever thought about just asking Trump to reverse the law that made it so cartoons couldn't be toy commercials anymore? Like, it was a nice thought, but we could just go back to that and have 100+ shows a year.

I would like the kidvid rules to be taken out back and shot like Vince Foster for a number of reasons (not necessarily for your reason, I suppose in spirit a little bit) but unfortunately(?) EOs cannot overrule and repeal existing legislation
Any changes to the kidvid regulation would have to go through the FCC and more likely Congress

The 1980s had far more likeable characters and ideas. Transformers alone could be rebooted several times to make new comics, cartoons, movies, video games etc.

2010s cartoons are just dead IPs with no staying power.

It's either the 1970s or 2020s. The 1970s sucked fucking cock but at least there were a lot of cartoons still being made. In contrast the 2020s are full of mediocre stuff but there's almost fucking nothing, and what little there is being made is almost exclusively reboots/sequels/spinoffs. The 80s started out rough but rapidly improved and the last few years had some genuine great cartoons, while for all the problems the 2010s had it did still produce some genuine gems here and there and at least there were still new properties coming out.

The 70s are ranked near the bottom, though. Just ahead of all the god-awful 10s and 20s cartoons. The 00s probably are better than the 70s, though. Maybe. Probably. It's a close call. They're both so damn bad.

Seeing threads like this pop up on the baord and the responses within makes me feel that /co/ will not be prepared for the 20 (actually closer to 30 since it takes time to bubble up to mainstream) nostalgia cycle kicks in, and we start getting 2000s callbacks.
