A long time ago, there was a TF focused forum that inspired a handful of creators to make their own webcomics. The Wotch was one of the more popular. It followed the story of a girl with magical powers who got into magical misadventures and frequently transformed her friends and others around her Gender Bender included.
Most of the transformations were temporary, but occasionally someone wouldnโt turn back, either because the heroes werenโt there to witness the change, or because it happened to a background character they didnโt even notice.
Thatโs what happened in the case of a group of jocks who got turned into cheerleaders. The twist was that these guys were such jerks to begin with that being transformed into bubbly, girly girls was seen as a major improvement. So when the protagonist finally realized what had happened, they basically decided to just leave them that way.
Back in the day, The Wotch had a large enough following that some fans created a spin-off comics about the transformed cheerleaders. I personally think it was kind of a missed opportunity. In the comic, the fact that they used to be guys is kept secret for most people, the cheerleaders included. So it ends up feeling more like a slice-of-life comic with a dash of magic.
The biggest waste, in my opinion, was a storyline where itโs revealed that one of the girls wasnโt brainwashed and had to pretend to be this ditzy cheerleader because all her friends had fully changed and no one at school seemed to care about the original jocks or what happened to them. It had a lot of potential, there couldโve been a big reveal, a confrontation with the magical protagonist, or at least some emotional payoff. But instead, the plot just fizzled out. The girl sort of accepts her new life and thatโs it.
