I see the tracking for Superman dropping around $100M-$150M due to these factors,

-the style/aesthetic (too marvely)
-suit design choices
-cinematography (them using primarily a wide angle lens and being close to the subject) makes them look stretched and distorted
- too goofy
-some of the dialogue is just odd sounding
-it just looks cheap compared to it's compeitition.

No, not again. I can't do another fucking autistic numbers thread where autists debate fucking numbers like a math class. Numbers because the internet is antagonistic to all forms of individual expression, and in its never-ending crusade to find "the best way" to win arguments, has settled on fucking numbers as the most conclusive way to prove ones correct opinion. Numbers because it's impossible to accept that one person might feel differently about a piece or art, or a news event, or the time of fucking day, so they instead must debate which number is the solution to a math equation. Numbers are final. Numbers cannot be denied. Numbers provide answers to how the universe works.

And even that would be fine if it was true. If fucking numbers were truly the answer to the internet's communication problem, at least I could take solace in there being some sort of agreement, even if it's sacrificing intelligent conversation. But numbers are just another unexceptional regurgitating performance art for how we are a post-truth collective and any number can be the correct number if you want it to be desperately enough. Numbers for how much money a corporation earns (not you btw)? Just change you definition of what benchmark constitutes success so you can never lose the argument. Numbers for how "good" a movie can be by measuring critic reviews or audience scores (ignoring the rabbit hole of contradictions that conversation has)? Just find a different website with a different number to win your argument. The more ambiguous the better, the goal is to move on as quickly as possible to the next train of thought on your lucid ADHD slip-and-slide of shitposting. Numbers. Numbers. Numbers. Numbers. Just like a song in a preschool cartoon.

Because why talk about a movie's quality? Why talk about what you are hoping to see in future installments, or what has stuck with you from the previous ones? Why talk at all when you can post fucking numbers. Forever. I'm not strong enough.

Most box office analysts think it will make, at best, $300 million domestically and $550-$600 million worldwide. Jurassic World will win because people love dinosaurs more than capes nowadays, so $500 million domestic office and $920-1,100 million worldwide. Fantastic Four could go either way and will probably make slightly more or slightly less than Superman depending on the reviews.

The Superman brand has been unpopular for 40 years, ever since Superman IV was released. Spider-Man, the Avengers, and Batman are the only franchises that can easily earn a billy now. Everything else is either a hit, like Joker, or a miss, like the DCEU and Thunderbolts. Add in capeshit fatigue; superheroes have been the dominant genre for 27 years, since the release of Blade. It's time to move on to something new; not even westerns and space operas ruled for so long.

I'm still bummed because of this. The fact that itโ€™s a musical didnโ€™t even bother me. That couldโ€™ve actually been fun. But what really gets me is how hollow it feels. Movies like Taxi Driver, Fight Club, and The King of Comedy never needed sequels yelling โ€œNO REALLY GUYS, THE MAIN CHARACTER IS BAD!!โ€ We got that the first time so tell me an interesting story.

They have the most iconic comic book villain. They couldโ€™ve printed unlimited money with him. And yet somehow, they still managed to fumble it. Kind of impressive, in a weird way.

be wary of anything tracking a month out, let alone 6 weeks

the Flash was allegedly going to make 120 million, then 100 million, then 80 million based on presales and other bullshit metrics, and the eventual opening weekend was 55 million with 10 million of previews, ie a 45 million 3-day weekend for normal people to decide they didn't like it

JW is probably broadly accurate given the history of the franchise and the names attached, but mostly because it's two weeks away and it's the holiday weekend - short of civil war it's not going to have a whole lot of competition that first weekend

Disney Live Action Remakes are soulless trash!

And the masses of Stupid Normies buy them anyway. This is how recently Lilo and Stitch remake made close to a billion. Other studios like Dreamworks saw this and said "Lets imitate Disney!" and now you have live action remake How To Train Your Dragon.

I don't see the appeal of Jurassic World. The premise of the movie is....

The main characters are the villains and unleashed carnivorous dinosaurs ALL over the globe and no you are not allowed to hate the main characters who realistically would be getting hunted on Earth until lynched.

And I hate how the movies have this annoying hippie faggot moral of "We humans brought dinosaurs now that they are free we are NOT allowed to kill them. You can kill lions and tigers but not Muh Dinosaurs! Fuck this entire shit fest. Humans learning to live with dinosaurs who will kill them? This is so terrible because this is NOT how mankind would behave. It doesn't work not even for low quality fiction. This is shit.

Even the new Planet of the Apes movies understood how humans would behave when threatened by animals, they will fight back. The only humans in those movies who can't fight back were rendered retarded but the few who did keep their brains are fighting. I just hate this Let Dinosaurs Kill You bullshit moral that Jurassic World has. And I hate the normies who keep buying these awful movies.

It wasn't based on presales. That's why when the presales came in, the tracking crashed to 70 from the pre-presale numbers of 115-140.

Both Superman and Fantastic 4 both have presales numbers in.

I disagree you said families so by that you mean Single Mothers. Got news for you Superman doesn't resonate with Modern North America. Why do you think My Adventures With Superman has TERRIBLE ratings? Superman was raised by a couple whose marriage never fell apart and Superman is optimistic and hopeful.

Who the fuck relates to that nonsense? Today's America is a Single Mother shit hole. And they aren't hopeful. If anything the new generation is cynical and irony pilled. They won't give a damn about a Boy Scout who is too unbelievable. This is why Spiderman and Batman still remain popular.

You can always count on reality being bittersweet and Spider Man and Batman heavily are fueled by this. Their lives aren't emotionally happy, they are stressful. Superman will never top these characters. So I see this new Superman movie to be an under performer and maybe a big failure.

Ironically this movie could have still turned up a healthy profit, the OG budget probably would have just been around $40 million considering it mostly takes place in one location but it got inflated to a ludicrous degree because Todd Phillips insisted on luxury catering and massage services on the set.

WB/DC should just continue the Snyderverse as an Elseworlds.
Because MOS and BVS were quite profitable as confirmed by Greg Silverman while ZSJL was the most 4th most streamed movie of 2021.
And because normies are still attached to those versions of the character.

Because nah, this shit did, talking loads of bullshit around films over and over again rather than seeing a film and watching it. This anon is correct >>149012065, while tracking does take into account things like people viewing the trailers on a site like Fandango or where Regal or AMC forces you to go to a site to register for a contest for First Steps or Superman (or to see the trailer for "rewards" loyalty points, as Regal just did for Superman), they do take that into account, but it has nothing to do with actual SALES.
Also, as far as The Flash goes, there was a concerted, very active and very vocal, tremendously highly negative (call it anti-WOM) against the movie as the trailers were dropping, so even people interested in Batkeaton put off seeing it in theaters but saw it on HBO Max (or physical media/rentals, etc.).

There is a decent amount of negativity against First Steps, largely around Pascal, and there is a decent amount of negativity against Superman, largely Snyder cultists but also enough fanboys put off by various things, as is always the case with any genre effort, but neither is extensive (nor measuring extensively on the 'impressions' which are being reported to the suits at Buena Vista or at WB, although the fact that there really isn't any negative whisper campaign against Jurassic World may mean that it will benefit from what little mud slinging shit sticks to First Steps and/or Superman or both.
