Did you like the school episodes?

Over hated but they do have a higher ratio of meh episodes to good ones compared to the rest of the show. Some of them easily match up with the classics though. I'm glad they wrapped things up with the movie, I think the school episodes were flashing a warning sign that the show would have lost its sense of self if it continued for another season or two.

The reason why these episodes weren't as good wasn't because they were in school, it was every other aspect of the show being dialed up to a more annoying degree.
The characters more exaggerated, flanderized, and screaming all the time, the background music never taking a break and using the same repetitive ques, the dynamics of the characters being made worse, etc.

EEnE was already pretty much over as a major CN show by 2005 so I didn't really care.

Yeah. Like >>149011022 said, the flaws at that point were unrelated to the setting and had been building up for a while. Changing it up added a fresh element that helped the show hold up longer than I believe it would have otherwise.

Agreed. Not that seasons 1 and 2 were bad at all, I just feel like those seasons really had the writing and animation teams both on their full A game.

I did but the inherent problem with the school episodes is that they refused to introduce any new characters. It got old really fast watching the same 9 people all the time.

Too much focus on Double D and upped his moralfaggotry and Eddy was reduced to screaming angrily and being almost as dumb as Ed and Ed himself acted more like a pet and just spouted dumb phrases. I mean, despite that, it still had funny moments, but it had nothing on the seasons before it.

It was supposed to a promotion for Kraft Cheese, that's why the aliens were obsessed with cheese, but they bailed out (Maxwell Atoms implies it might've been because of Billy being unlikable to parents or something), and the episodes were promoted to focus on more of the alien aspect.

The season 5 episodes were they weren't in school were the strongest, the exception being Fist Full of Ed. Overall though Season 5 and the two episodes of Season 6 were showing that the staff were fatigued and ready to end the show. Thankfully the movie was a return to form on top of being a good ending.
